Well, that escalated quickly !! I just bought a SxS
« on: July 19, 2016, 09:12:04 PM »
So I started looking at the Wildcat Trail in the past few weeks, just to see what the competition offered. I knew the Rzr900 was way out of my price range after my BiL spent $16,300 for his well optioned Rzr900. After seeing the leftover Cats selling for under 9k at a dealer in KY, I thought it offered a lot of performance for damn near half the cost of the decked out Rzr. I expected to be buying at the earliest in September, but was willing to wait until next April to buy a new or leftover. I didn't even rule out a used model, and went ahead and put in a really low offer on a 2014 Arctic Cat Trail with 1,023 miles on the clock, and enough extra accessories to make it worthwhile - AC Premium front and rear bumpers, winch, bimini top, half windshield, front A-arm guards.
So the auction was ending at 8pm today, and I sat there fully expecting to be outbid. I was fine with that ... I wasn't going to get in a bidding war and I honestly bid once and only once. So I fully expected to get outbid, hell I was kinda praying I would (I haven't told the wife about this yet) and that last minute the adrenaline was pumping, until it ticked down to 0. I snagged this SxS for a very low $6,100 !!

Now, pay attention to the bolded part above. I still have my ATV - its not ready to sell, so I have to gently drop this bomb on my wife, quickly get my ATV ready for sale and sell it to start paying off the loan on the SxS. Keep in mind, if I can get 4k for the ATV, I will only be financing 2,100 for the SxS. Now that's a helluva deal and pretty much the reason why I decided to bid on it. I couldn't even get a CF Moto for that price !! Now .. back to that bolded part ... IF I am still married at the end of this month, it will be as big a shock as me winning this auction. I am seriously going to be in the doghouse here.

So you'll be moving to the artic cat forum?
If it has Pistons or Tits you will encounter problems.

;D Already registered and posting.  ;)

I really REALLY wanted to hold out for the CF Moto. I have the shortcut to the local dealers remaining 2016 Zforce 800 EPS on my desktop, and hands down CF Moto has the best instrument cluster in the 50" market, and they are also the best looking SxS in my opinion, but I was giving it enough time to determine whether the owners of the Zforce on here would start to run into QC issues, or parts that just weren't easy to replace or upgrade, and that worried me since I am so horribly inept when it comes to working on this stuff.

What helped with the Wildcat Trail was my BiLs cousin up until recently worked at the same Arctic Cat dealer/garage that I went to last week to get a good look at the SxS. I know I should have taken it for a spin before I dropped $$ on one, but for what I paid for this, I can accept some shortcomings that the Wildcat may have, knowing that I have access to aftermarket parts and a mechanic that knows what to look for on one too.

I'm sure I will still hang around here, just like a bad habit. I honestly don't have a brand loyalty bias - if you are in the woods riding, you are welcome in my group any day. Last ride we had a Suzuki, Arctic Cat, Honda, Polaris and a Yamaha on that ride.

Sooooo, first of all my wife and I thank you for the laugh.
And congrats on winning your bid!!
Ok, now, damage control....
" I bought it, so I'd be able to make a quick $1500"
" now I can have you by my side"
" keep it at the in-laws until you sell the ATV"
"When it arrives, take the ATV to the in laws, traded it for the SXS"
"I'm letting you borrow mine to see if you like it"
Save a portion of the ATV sales for the couples counseling co pays

Glad you found one though. And seriously, you may be able to sell both and have enough to get something different, either way happy for you I know you've been wanting one for a while.

Congrats on the buy. Take the wife on a few nice easy rides and she will be OK. Can't believe anyone would go through the roof over 6100 anyway. And Jose..did you have to post that photo? Wow that's ugly.

Wife HATES my hobby .. HATES IT !! With a passion. After my big accident in July '11, she has always been worried even moreso. When she called to check on how insurance claim was going on my ATV, the dealer says "Never mind the ATV, hows your husband ?? We only ever had one ATV pushed in here more damaged than his, and that one was hit by a car at 60mph. He's lucky to be alive". After that, I was lucky to both be alive and to be able to ride and do what I love to do, even if it wasn't with her blessing.

So, yea, it will probably be residing at my FiLs garage for now, but I simply have to spill the beans to her about the drive to south of Pittsburgh. The biggest issue I have read about with the Trails is the poor 3 point belt harness, and how it cuts into your neck as soon as you buckle up, so my first purchase for it is a 4 point harness and harness bar.

She can't fault you for trying to be safer and more responsible by going to a SxS...can she?

Good call on the seat belts !! My brother in law has one and he is to cheap to buy some but will go and buy a 30pack and a all you can eat buffet faster then you can say "wildcat" lol. From experience the seatbelts suck and they do hurt your neck badly and from the passenger that was in the wildcat when it fliped the seatbelt didn't do so good she still was able to slip out of it luckily nothing happen to her. But I will say this that rapid clutch on them things is bad ass and they will smoke any Cfmoto stock around sorry guys buts it's true I have Buku bucks invested in my Cfmoto and still a little worried, that he will take me.

WOW! That guy's head looks bad. I hope he healed up OK.

Part of the problem with Arctic Cat cages, is the T-top design. That makes it much weaker. Judging from the pic, the tubing is probably thin too.
