Water in rocker switches
« on: May 22, 2018, 04:00:13 PM »
I guess we all know these dash rockers are not water tight but I just had one fail that was sideways..for my CVT booster fan and when I pulled it apart it was clear the lower contact parts had been under water...and for a while as they were very corroded and now burned. So...I guess no more power-washing the dash...even from a distance..lol

Good to know. I wonder how much 'proof' the switches are for other occasional water, rain , splash and the like?
I wonder if the kill switch is a normally closed or normally open? I'm imagining if contacts were to go bad like that one for the CVT booster, a trail failure that would result in the engine not running, leading to a very difficult trailside diagnosis of why it stopped running, let alone a repair.

I wonder if standard CF Moto switches are a different build than what I assume is an aftermarket switch on the booster?

Haven't had a CFM OE switch go bad yet. Just the aftermarket for the fan but some others have had issues with the kill switch..which I think is normally closed.

Spray this into the switches; it is for boat electrics.
I Use it on every switch, cable plug ect. It works great.
