Warranty void for not buying from a reputable dealer
« on: July 19, 2022, 08:44:44 AM »
Hey guys,

Just wanted to run this by you all, to see if this sounds right.

I just bought a 2022 ZForce 1000 it’s literally 3 months old (from some guy on Facebook marketplace) and the Engine Management Light (EML) has come on.

It seems to be an issue with the brake circuit. Anyways I contacted Quadzilla who are the ones that import/ distribute CFMoto vehicles here in the UK.

I asked if I am covered under warranty and got told that since I didn’t purchase the vehicle from a reputable dealer I no longer have warranty. Not only do I not have warranty to fix the EML issue but I essentially have no warranty now what so ever. The thing is 3 damn months old. Am not exactly worried about the brake circuit voltage shouldn’t be a difficult fix but what if my engine goes a month down the line…

So yeah does this sound right or should I complain?

Thanks,
Maisy

So you bought it used?

Good question whether or not the warranty is transferable.

Yeah, most often the warranty is only in effect for the original purchaser and isn't transferable unless stated in the sales or warranty docs. Even then it may require the sale go through a licensed entity and be registered with the manufacturer. Not always though. Hope you got a great deal cause...looks like there will be no warranty.

If you have the sellers contact info ask him where he bought it an or maybe he can call in an ask about the part an warranty transfer

In Canada the warranty is transferable for the term of the warranty

If none work I’d contact Cfmoto directly

I got it for nearly £3k off the dealer price . It’s in mint condition and only had 400 miles on it.

Honestly it’s kind of put me off I feel like just selling it now. I’ve never had issues with warranty transfers on cars and really don’t want to fund a new engine if it decides to go on me. But I guess I will ring CF see what they can do. The seller didn’t really seem like the type to be chasing up warranty transfers for me. :/

Check into it because as mentioned above, some countries require a warranty to be transferred and run until they terminate. May just need to register..or something.

I wouldn't over-react here. You saved $3K. Even if you spend a couple hundred to fix what is likely a minor issue, you are way ahead of the game.

It looks like UK gets a 2 year warranty, so a phone call to CFMOTO is a good idea.

Idk about the UK, but in the US there’s very few factory warranties that transfer w/ private party sale.

Usually the warranty you get on a used car/boat/RV/whatever is an aftermarket warranty by a third party company. Not the manufacture.

As others stated, you saved $3k off sticker price plus shipping plus dealer fees, etc. just pay the couple hundred bucks to have it fixed and be happy that you’re still ahead of the game!
