Update On Parking Brake For Gen 2 Zforce
« on: February 28, 2024, 02:56:48 PM »
Finally was able to make it to my dealer to schedule installation of the parking brake on my Zforce 800 Trail.  According to the service manage the fix is a new center console that allows the same parking brake as the Gen 1's.  Will probably be a couple of weeks for the other parts I ordered to come in, but that's fine with me since don't plan on riding until it warms up and snow gets off the mountains.

Just spoke to dealer in Georgia about the parking brake retrofit.  He was not aware of it but looked it up in Service Bulletins from CFMoto.  Found it and said it was 17 pages long and that is is true, that CFmoto is covering it via warranty.  They are ordering the parts and will let me know when they arrive.  ANyone have access to the bulletins?

The dealer I spoke with a week or so ago was unaware of the parking brake install program and told me that until the CFMoto database is updated showing my Gen2 (or any of the stock they have on the floor) needs the upgrade, there's nothing they can do. Apparently on warranty issues like this CFMoto attaches the need for the update to the VIN number in their database which is what the dealers access. Even though I had the park numbers he was unable to even place them on order.

I suspect CFMoto is controlling the roll-out of the updates so that demand doesn't over-run their ability to supply the necessary parts.  The upgrade program runs thru the end of the calendar year though, so I guess we still have a lot of time to get it done.

Strange my dealer let me know in mid January that they had the upgrade available.  I wasn't able to have it done until now due to medical issues.  My dealer had my Zforce ordered as soon as they were announced and mine was the first one out the door. That might have been a contributing factor.

Contacted two dealers in my area and neither knew anything about this.  Tried contacting Customer Support at CFMoto and got no response.

Haven't been on the board much but if this is a safety issue i'm sure it's coverd.
Is this coverage good till the end of 2024 and what years?

All I know for a fact is that I just picked up my 2023 Zforce 800 Trail at my dealer yesterday after having the new parking brake installed at no charge to me.
I asked the Service Manager what they were charging CFmoto for the warranty work and he said $900.00 for the installation.  My dealer's labor rate is $130.00 per hr.
All I can say is CFmoto sure is taking a hit, which they deserve, for elminating the parking brake on the 2023's.  However, I do complement them on stepping up and fixing the problem.
