Nope. I have one in my airbox and was wondering that too. I felt that if and when it got caked with stuff it would collapse/get sucked-shut. Fortunately my second filter stops everything from getting to it so that never happens...and now sense I had an extra spring from a Unifilter from another project, I modified it to work in the TwinAir to be interior support. I do now however have a second concern with that steel spring as it added extra weight to the foam end and allows it to flop around some. This might, in time, have an effect on the bond between the foam and base so..JMO, trust it until it gives you a problem. Some have said there is a spring you can buy for these but I sure haven't found it.
