Turn signals
« on: February 23, 2018, 08:56:52 PM »
I'm trying to install turn signals on by Z1000 using stock parts but have run into a glitch. The front lights I got from the  dealer have a post with an nut for the apparent installation but there really is no place to mount them. The lights themselves are a diamond shape but don't seem to fit  the location on the car. Anyone have the factory turn signals that can give me a heads up on this?
Thanks, Hal

Your description sounds like the directionals for the 2017 Zforces which don't match the pictures of the 1000's I've found online.

I'd go back to the dealer and have them look up the correct part numbers. They got the parts wrong for me when I first ordered them for my Z; they got me the ones for the 2015/2016s.

Yeah the 800s have obvious holes in the plastics below the bumper for the turn signals.

The parts you got from the dealer are the signals lights for the Z800/500 trail model (53")

I'm sure you are all right about the lights being for the 800 but I thought the 1000 was the same. They sure looked the same sitting side by side. Like was stated, it looks like the  trail and EX  are different.
Thank you all , Hal

Would anyone happen to have the part numbers for the right ones? I'm sure they are the EX lights. Thanks,
Hal

In my looking around after some comments about the differences, I see there are differences I didn't realize. The EX and the Trail do use different front turn signals.

The Trail, like mine, uses the post-type that mounts in a hole in the plastic. Here's a pic:

Where the EX uses one that mounts in the plastic. The plastics are different between the two...something I did not realize. Here's some pics of the EX:

From this photo of the 1000, it looks like it just uses the EX-type lights:

Seems there are two different plugs so there are two different part numbers. Same lights and mounting bolts, just different plugs I think.

Thanks for the research, I found the same information and called Bobby's with the numbers. They came up with a different plug number so I had them order the ones they 'think' are correct. We'll see how it works out shortly, I hope. Great folks to work with for sure.
On another note, it's sure nice that NM has gotten on the ball and is letting these cars run on at least some of the roads in the state. They are supposed to send us a rear plate for the car now, not just an off road sticker. Arizona is a great place to ride with their laws. Wish more states would follow suite.

Got all the parts in and installed for the signals. It's really a simple plug and play job. The flasher was already installed in my car so that part wasn't needed. If you do install these lights be sure to ortder the 6 mounting screws for the front signals, they are a little different as they self tap into the plastic.
Now if NM would get my new plate to me we'd be all set.

Just an aside on the turn signals. The flasher won't work with the switch currently in the dash. CFM has another switch you'll need to use if you want that feature. I have it on order, about $25 all in for the witch from the dealer.
