Trailer Size
« on: November 30, 2020, 12:10:24 AM »
I have a Z800 Trail. I have been trying to decide what size trailer to buy. Im thinking a 6x12, but they are hard to find around town. What size trailers are you guys using? What size do you think would be good for one vehicle? Single axle or double? What should I look for? I want the Goldie Locks of trailers, the one that's just right.
What do you think?

I run a 5.5x10 aluminum 3000lb capacity trailer with a drop gate/ramp for my Z8 trail and it fits well with a little extra room all around.

I also installed electric brakes which improves stopping performance considerably.

It will fit on a 5x10 as well. 5x8 would be too small.

I agree. Nothing less then a 5X10. If I was in the market for a trailer, it would have to be large enough to serve other duties as well though. Here I can get brand new 7x16' tandems for around 1600 so..not hard to find most anything here.

I have 7X16 for Z8 Trail.  I like it because it is big enough to walk around the machine when I'm on the deck.  I can sit on the side rails and work on the machine when it is loaded and, i just mounted a toolbox on the front of the deck and still have room for the Z8.

I just bought this for my z800 trail (with 2" wheel spacers) and it fits perfect. not wide enough to be annoying in the lanes and still has a little room in front and back to fit fuel.

I have the aluminum version of that trailer. It's about 300lbs lighter.

The size is perfect for the trail. The EX also fits but is pretty snug with only a couple of inches on each side. My only complaint is that the springs are a bit stiff.

If you can weld, you can add electric brakes for under $300 wiring and all.
