I bought a full windshield with my ZForce 500. If I use it in the summer the rain/drops will block my view and dust seems to roll in behind me. So I removed it hopefully it will be of use in the winter>

No windshield on my motorcycle why would I want one on my offroad machine. goggles and tasting dirt are part of the experience =). Who wants to spend $600 so you can feel like your riding in a little car. I prefer the wind, just my opinion.

Correct. The front 'shield creates a negative air flow, which in turn pulls in dust that is kicked up behind the vehicle. This is why I highly advocate a flip up full windshield, so you can alter it to suite whatever conditions you ride in. Leave it fully closed in the winter for maximum air deflection with out any dust kickup. Leave it fully open in the summer for full airflow, and leave it cracked for Spring and Fall riding to get some airflow and cut down on dust and protect from rain as well.

They are very pricey, but they are the ONLY way to make every ride a comfortable ride regardless of the temperature or conditions. Red is a bit off on his price for the proper 'shield, but for around $350 you can fix the problem.

I always get a kick out of these windshield and dust issues.  No true off road vehicle ever had a windshield.  From the buggy's in Baja 50 years ago to a SXS crawling through the woods and mud of PA a windshield simply does not work well.  It's a fact that anytime you direct airflow around a vehicle there is going to be a low pressure area behind it.  That low pressure will pull dust in from everywhere.  If its not swirling dust, its covered in water, mud, and dirt.  Doors and a rear window are unlikely to stop the dust.  Like a previous poster said if you don't like dust, get a Jeep, or stay at home and bake a bunt cake.  A helmet and googles are a tried and true solution.  You haven't seen dust until you have ridden in the coal region of PA during a dry summer.  If conditions were extremely dusty every time out, I would invest in a Parker Pumper.  Just my .02 centavos.

I didn't get mine to attempt to deflect dust & wind, I got mine for the torrential rains and hail we get in the mountains...and to keep the Mrs. happier. Afterall.."Happy wife, Happy life"

Oh man, I remember my White Haven days riding on the coal access roads .. it was absolutely choking !! We'd come out looking like 1930's WV coal miners on those rides. I don't miss that, but at the time it was what we did.

RockyMountain just clearanced some nice Tusk rear screens - not lexan, mind you, but like mosquito netting for $50 for my ride, and I wish I would have got one, but this time of year it is not a need here in PA. We ride under the tree canopy (yes, leaves are still hanging on tightly) and have have enough showers to cut down drastically on the dust from those July/August rides.

I want to get one of those nettings for the rear. I hear it helps a lot. That's why I use my cargo net like I do..it helps a little.

Just spent an hour looking for the Tusk rear mesh windshield on Ebay/Amazon/RockyMtn, etc and haven't found a vendor offering one yet. At only $50, it was quite a bargain for what you get, but it did NOT block fine dust, which was most reviewers complaint. I'm gonna get my ride paid off first, then I shouldn't need to worry about winter temp riding until late next Fall. Then I'll invest in the front pop-up and revisit the rear mesh idea.

You're not looking at this the right way. It will get used every month, but it will only be really necessary for those winter months. It will keep dust and/or rain off of you for all of those other months, so to say that it will only be used for a couple months is not entirely accurate. It will more greatly benefit you in winter, but it will many other times be a welcome addition to your ride as well.

I disagree, if I was to get one and went cheaper with a full windshield I would ONLY use it for winter, it would come off in spring summer fall.

A lot of the dust swirls up from behind the seats so on our Lexan Back Panels we have added a skirt below. Some dust still gets in though, but by adding front and rear Dual Vents in our Lexan Windshields and Back Panels you are directing adjustable air flow straight through. It works well.
