Any one using a tire sealant (Moose Tire Sealant, Green Slime, etc).

Do tire sealants work well or are you just wasting money on such products (mess aside)?

They work when you use enough. Problem is, when sitting it collects at the bottom making it very out of balance for quite some time..and..it only works on small punctures. If it needs a plug, then it will keep the plug's glue or adhesives from bonding to the sides...and it's a mess on the inside if you need to patch it later. And some are hard on aluminum...and steel wheels. I just don't use it anymore. I opt for a better, 8-ply tire and carry some patch-n-plug supplies along with a small compressor.

I don't like it either for everything NMK said. I have had steel wheels rusted because of it too. I keep plugs for holes and a tube if I wreck a side wall. Bead seal works good if that where it's leaking.

nope wouldn't use it. messy, damages wheels. carry a plug kit. I had a huge hole in one of my 8 ply tires. I stacked two plugs on and shoved them in there, the tire actually held air, got me home and was still holding air two days later. NO WAY slime would have done that the hole/cut was longer than 1 inch...

Sorry to bust up the Slime hate, but I've had good luck with it.  It says it's not for bead leaks, but in my experience it works just fine.  I've never had a problem with it being out of balance.  I use it on any tire/wheel that has a slow leaker that I can't otherwise seem to find, and it works well.  Agree though, it does pit wheels, but what do I care, it's on the inside where I don't see it anyway.

I've got it in the wheels of my 2013 CF500 and it has saved a couple of long walks home. I don't like it and will not be using it again when I replace the tyres with some 8 ply ones. I carry a small bottle of 'slime' in the tank bag of my off road bike in case of punctures (tube type wheels) to use to get me home.
It has it's uses, but not for everyday vehicles.

carrying some for back up, sure. I would always try a plug first though. Plug kits are cheap and work. But if a plug doesn't work I'm not sure if slime would except maybe for a bead leak, but those are typically slow enough that you would just need to air up a couple times to get you home. I carry a very small compressor, It's slow as hell but it did fill my 29" tire in about 5 minutes
