Thinking of going to the dark side,,,
« on: September 27, 2021, 10:06:58 AM »
So, I just bought my zforce500 in March, put a crap ton of accessories on it, and really want a 4 seater now.  Considering going to the dark side (or am I already on the dark side??!)

Thoughts?  That 10 year belt life seams appealing and the dimenstions are pretty close to my 2 seater.

I personally don't consider there to be a "dark side" when it comes to off-roading. And the Yamaha Wolverine RMax-4 is one of three I have been looking at as a replacement as I too find myself in need of a four-seater at times but also need one with a wheel base that will fit on my 9.4' flatbed. With Yamaha's reputation for quality, the RMax is at the top of the list. Not a cheap investment but if one spends lots of time out there..better have something that will last.. I say. Can't do better then a Yamaha, Honda or Kawasaki for that. I'd even consider a Can Am or Polaris as well.

Interesting machine with interesting specs.

If it does what you need and you can afford it, just remember that money is a renewable resource ;-)

I know there's no dark side, just my dry humor.  Yeah they look like great machines for sure.

My problem is "justification". Seems every year I/we ride less. It's been under 300 miles per year for several years now and now.. this year I think we rode it less then 100 miles. Looking like we may soon let this pass-time go so unless I get a great deal on one..20+K for something to sit most of the time just doesn't make sense.

Would you ride more though if you had the option of taking 3 passengers?  Beings as this is our first year in the hobby, we have put on over 800 since March, probably end up around 1200 before the year is out.  My biggest thing is cost, my trailer is at max weight as is, adding more and I will need a new axle with brakes, different tires/rims on trailer.  And then there's the whole "I already spent 20k on this hobby this year" with the sxs and trailer setup I have.  It's sad you have to pay out the price of a small house if you want to take the family off roading!  Oh, and my Tacoma is already only getting 8-10mpg with this setup, all the extra weight wouldn't help I'm sure, so I'm looking at trading that for a bigger truck.  I don't have the kind of money my mind wants to spend!!!

Lol..me either. A few years ago it was "whatever the heart wants" but now, retired and on a fixed income, I find myself thinking ..two or three times about if I really want ...or even need something...lol.
