Thinking of a new ride.......
« on: January 29, 2017, 01:21:32 PM »
Hey guys. New to the forum.

I've had ATV's all my life, live in a prime mud and trail part of Tennessee. I also have a horse farm where I use ATV's for lots of the work that needs done.

Bought a 2010 RZR 800 ESP off the showroom floor 6 years ago, great product but it's starting to have more issues lately than I want to dump money into a 6 year old bike. So I'm looking around to see what the options are for my next UTV investment.

I'm really leaning towards the Moto, price, standard accessories..........compared to the RZR.

Question time, looking at the Zforce 800 or 1000.

Any major problems I should be aware of?
Any past owners of the RZR have an opinion moving to the ZFORCE?
Pros / Cons?
One guy on the trails told me the Zforce comes with a 5 year warranty?
Longevity of the ZForce? ( I tend to keep ATV's 4-6 years )
Is it worth the money for the 1000 vs the 800?
Service? ( long waits, easy part findings? )
Warranty ( get the run around, smooth? )

Thanks in advance, hope to make this purchase in the next 2 weeks.

IMO -  I would not buy a CF Moto.  Yes they have all extra's and the price is good.  The old saying  "you get what you pay for"  is true for these.  I have one and I dislike it.  Resale value sucks. I have owned for 8 months and I can't even get 6500 for it and there is only 500 or so miles on it.
I think any of the other brands would be better.  I hear a lot of good things about honda, kawasaki, and can am.

Thanks for the reply. I've had many Hondas, 3 Polaris, 2 Yamaha. Each had its things I liked, disliked, problems, etc.

The resale isn't that big a deal to me, as I keep them for so long they are usually only worth a fraction of the original price. My 2010 RZR has over 30,000 miles on it. lol

But what is it you don't like? The ride, engine, problems, upkeep?

I use to ride my machines REALLY HARD. My RZR has 3" lift, 30" Terminator tires, snorkled, wheel expanders, Extreme mud clutch. But many of my friends have gotta out of the "deepest hole we can find mentality" and more into camping with the wives and soft "scenic" trails.

Basically that's why I don't want to dump $15,000-18,000 on another RZR. Because most of that comes in the way of "beefing" it up to handle the extreme riding we use to do.

For the price of a 60" ZRZS 570 bone stock, I could get the Moto 800 ESP with bumpers, roof, etc. Extra $1000 if I went the Moto 1000 route.

But that's why I'm here, need some good honest info before I make a new purchase.

I'm kinda on the fence...today. Some days I regret the purchase.. other times it's just fine. No 5-year warranty in the US and no more anywhere else I hear. You will never get 30K miles out of one of these...maybe 8-10K. These are a cheap copy of the old RzR 800 built with the cheapest parts possible to keep the cost down. Yes, you can beef-up stuff..put better parts in as needed. In any case I wouldn't consider any CFM for hard or extreme use. For me who's down to just leisurely trail riding with the wife and friends, it's just fine. I will say..it has never left me walking :)

Mine use to ride rough but, changed a few things around that were talked about on here and now it rides good.  It is a little under power in sticky deep mud.  It lacks torque for sure.  It is a bit noisy clutch noise etc.  If you are talking about putting that kind of miles on and beating the tar out it, I would look at a different model.  I have an 2001 Kawasaki 650 atv that I pound around like I stole it and just keeps going!!  I pounded on the Z for one day and many things happened.  Throttle cable broke, brakes went out, thermo switch went out, water in front and rear diff a lot of water, and the wiring system is not very water proof.  I will say this forum is awesome for information about these.  I would have driven it off a cliff along time ago if it wasn't for this forum. The guys on here are awesome and put a lot of time in testing things.  Glad I could give you my opinion.

I personally would recommend the CFMoto Zforce 800 EX.
1. For the price.  You can buy 2 and have one JUST for parts if you want to compare it to a RZR. Or Honda or can am. Add up all the extras and compare both.
2. No , there is NO 5 year warranty, BUT there IS a one year FULL warranty vs. everyone else 6 month limited warranty.
3. Customer service, NEVER a question if it needs something they do it.. They updated rear shocks, they changed mine out.
4. Service, my dealer is 1 1/2 away! Anytime I have had the slightest issue. He came, picked it up fixed it, serviced it, and brought it back. ON MY TIME
The Yamaha / Polaris dealer in my back yard won't do that.
5. How many recalls have these had??......0 how many have the RZRs had??
6. Parts are always readily available, research the replenish rate of the manufacturer.
7. After market add on, now many parts are available. Just as many as any other brand.
8. ANY machine beaten on WILL break. None of them are bulletproof. Many of the guys on that ride complained about spending $20K and having the issues they had.
9. Fit n finish, I think these machines are astetically the nicest looking on the market. , I do love the NEW RZRs too..
10. If/when you add harnesses these are a very safe machine. Knock on wood haven't had to find out the hard way, but look at some of the other brands crashes, and google this ones crashes.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the RZRs but if you're going to go $ for $ and pound for pound, these are the best choice.
If you have deeper pockets than the rest here, use your money as you wish.
If $$$ is no issue, get a gold plated RZR highlifter with all the bells n whistles.

Here are some base models from other companies.

I agree 100% with gf, we ride ours a lot, and run it pretty hard at times, after I set the shocks to my liking it rides as smooth as any I've been in, we haven't had any problems
out of ours to date, of course anything man made is going to have some problems.
I know of several new razers that have had many problems.
as far as mileage, there has been several on here that have put a huge amount of miles on them.
I believe if it's serviced right, it will last as long as any on the market...

I went into the research with a negative attitude in the beginning. I searched "I hate my CFMoto Zforce 800 EX" on google and got like two credible returns...and one was the guy's dealer went out of business. The only concern I had and still have is the stability of the dealer. They aren't anchored with 5-6 brands across many model types....etc. This particular are I just had to take a chance really. I've only had my beast since August and put a few miles on it. Took it Windrock Park, one of the toughest on a machine in my opinion and it kept up with all the high dollar Rzr's I was riding with. One of the 1000's actually broke down during the trip. Electrical. When people ask me if Im still happy with it I say "unless it breaks into two pieces I love it!" Got take a test ride in one. Due to a mistake by my dealer, in my favor the price basically came out to a tax free purchase. Due to that fact the closest equal Rzr 900...out the door...was a $7,000 savings. I love mine so far but its been a long journey.

I think one thing to consider is the price of the Z8 compared to other makes, over here in the UK the Polaris rzr can be twice the price, are they twice as good ? I doubt it personally

Bang for your buck they are worth it I think. I have had some issues with mine but some of it was stupid stuff, caliper bolt was loose fell out caused the caliper to jam in the wheel and break. Cf took care of it but the wheel took 3 weeks to get in. I have another issue with an engine noise I refuse to believe is normal but they won't do anything about it until it blows up. Had an oil pressure light coming on that they say they fixed found debris in some oil passage. It stalls randomly when stopped and shifting in or out of reverse, then starts right back up. I had a wicked belt smell, they took the cover off found belt dust but no sign of any slippage or anything so they just put it back together. It hasn't broken yet and the drivetrain seems stout enough. Stock tires are junk, weak sidewalls. It does go anywhere though. I have 80 miles and 2 real rides on it. So I am little pissed and wish I would have never bought it honestly, but nothing major has happened. Would I have been better off with a RZR? Maybe but I got this for under $10k  Had I spent $18k on it I would be twice as pissed.

I bought a 48 month extended warranty that cover most everything. The dealer has been in bussiness since 1953, third generation of owners so I feel confident he'll be around for any work needed. My friend has a ZZR570 and RZR800 and he is waitng delivery of his new Z800 tomorrow (got mine Saturday). The RZR's are fine but he liked the Z better during our rides. Of course a couple of 'geezers' like us probably won't tax the Z's abilities so the money saved was a great incentive.

I really dont understand why people tell the ZForce is a cheap copy of the old RZR !
I have buy mine exactly the same day my brother buy is RZR.
We have 4200 km each and my ZForce look like new compared to is RZR. The exhaust of CF are in stainless vs cheap rusted metal on the Polaris. The plastic is way better on the CF. The engine are stronger and dont drink oil like the RZR. My shock are like new, the RZR are cheap and squish A LOT.
No failure on the CF and many think on the Polaris.

:)  sounds like you have a great CFM Z-800 there....and sounds like your brother may have got a lemon. The Z is a copy of the 800 RzR and the engine is a rough copy of the Rotax 800. The lower grade parts are what helps the production cost and sales price but taken care of and treated with a dash of common sense they can last fine...as is your experience. Others...well... they find problems with bearings, brakes, u-joints, axles, electrical parts and connectors, rod bearings, water and oil pumps....ect. I guess everything has it's limits. You...and I..must not push our Z's past theirs....lol
