super rocky ride??
« on: September 03, 2017, 01:06:24 PM »
hey all, so finally took out my cf moto and to my surprise, the ride was extremely bumpy and not very comfortable. I was wondering if this is just a side by side thing? I know my ATV is definitely not that rough riding. Since I never rode a side by side before, im thinking maybe thats just the way they are since they are heavier and you are in a seat

Mine is rougher then my ATV..but the ATV has Elka Stage-3s on it set soft. I did take some time to make my Z8 ride as nice as I think I can get it so it's really not bad now. From the dealer everything is set a bit stiff and the tires have too much air so..take your time and make some adjustments...its worth it.

Well, without knowing what you have all I can tell you is what I did to my Z800 53.

1. Tire pressure set to 8psi
2. Shock compressions. Find center between Fast and Slow and set two clicks toward the Fast
3. Shock rebounds. Find the center between Fast and Slow and set two clicks toward the  Slow
4. Set Rear shock preloads so that with normal load the a-arms ride at or near their center of travel
5. Set front preloads so the with normal load, front section of main skid plate is level to 1/2" lower then the rear of same skid plate.
6. Make sure all a-arm bushings are well greased and are rotating freely all the time as well as the sway Bar bushings.

I think they tend to soften a bit as they break in as well, mine has. Also as was said, tire pressures and experiment with adjustments.

NMKawi has it about right.  Also as Wilc86 said they will soften up after a bit of riding.  Set your air pressure down in the tires and that will go a LONG way in softening the "harshness" or initial hard hit of bumps.  Taking some preload out of the shocks can also soften the ride overall but you lose ground clearance when you do so as well.
I can imagine a world completely at peace.  A world where there are no weapons, no war, and no violence at all.  And I can imagine us taking over that world because they would never expect it.
