Squirrel cage fan?

What is the squirrel cage fan on the passenger side of the motor ? I took it off today and seen what it was just looks like it blows air over the back side of the motor has a little 9 inch pipe with a elbow​ pointing to the exhaust can anyone shed some light on this ? Thanks

Can't say I agree with with the use of it and wish they had come up with a better solution. On the plus side, it makes a pretty cool noise when it's under water. Don't worry, there is a drain hole.

Lol..Maybe the discharge can be pointed straight back with a nozzle and you can have yourself a little jet-power in the water...hehe.

I had heard these were installed after CFM had some fires that were said to be caused by heat buildup. Probably BS.

I like where nmk is going. I think they were stuck and the fan was the cheapest way out of the problem. Most manufacturers won't add anything extra unless they will make money or have to for another reason.

Yamaha Rhino had them on there and im sure other brands and models did also.  Its a common thing to have on there.  A lot of guys that got in the water alot took them off but you needed to put heat shielding around the exhaust to take the melting risk away LOL
I can imagine a world completely at peace.  A world where there are no weapons, no war, and no violence at all.  And I can imagine us taking over that world because they would never expect it.
