Rear windows, do they work/keep out some dust?
« on: May 07, 2016, 09:02:37 PM »
Now that dust has pretty close to invaded our (part) of the country, starting to winder if a rear window for our machines is in the offing? I'd like to hear what those of you that have them think about their ability to help get less piles of dust in my face....(not that it matters, looks like Mt St Helens is gettin' all anxious again anyways, we got 4 inches of ash here the last time she went off).

Anyways, let's hear some reports on REAR windshields, please-
Chris

We like our rear window helps to keep the dust down and some of the exhaust noise also. Does not stop all of the dust but it certainly helps. Also like when riding in the rain.

Waiting to read a review on these as well. There remains precious little info out there for CF Moto accessories, so please, if you have bought some hardware, do us all a huge favor and review it, comment on it, give us some info on it to help us all become informed buyers. I found a smoked/tinted rear window on Ebay yesterday which I would prefer over a clear one.

Can't speak for myself but I ride with a guy with a RZR 800 and when he added a full windshield it caused dust to vortex around from behind and fill the cab...at least far more then it did without the shield. He added a rear shield and it stopped 75% of it...but not all of it. Then he added doors, that stopped another 10-15%. It's this that's delaying me buying a full front windshield...the thought that I will also need a rear one as well right away. Also, he says his cab gets much hotter now.

That is exactly why you use a Windshield with Dual Vents. Your choice to keep the heat in, or ram in & circulate fresh air from outside.
Pacific Eagle UTV Enclosures has aftermarket Cab Enclosures, Windshields and Skid Plates for UForce and ZForce models. Today we are known as Pacific Eagle Powersports and we have available 32 Cab Enclosure combos for the UForce 500, 600, 800, 1000 and the UForce U10 & U10 Pro. We also have 28 Cab combos for the ZForce 500, 600, 800 & 950 Sport, 1000, and the Z10 & Z10-4. We think we have pretty much got CF Moto covered.

I agree with the ability to open the windshield as being a big deal, we have the split windshield, it makes a lot of difference how much dust comes in the cab if the window is partway open, I think it pressurizes the cabin just a little bit when open. If it's totally closed, seems like more dust comes in.

Sheet of safety plexi glass, trimmed with a dremmel, rubber coated pipe clamps, stainless bolts, rubber backed washers (to absorb vibration), nyloc nuts, and , if you look close, at the bottom edges you can see two clear rubber pieces. Those I got from eBay they're car mirror rain guards.  Lol

Made the rear window from what was left after I made the front windshield.
Same piece of safety plexiglas masked off the sides and sprayed them black to match the factory lower 1/2 windshield, added some foam rubber weather stripping on the sides, one pipe hanger in the middle top and "Y" bold to easily unscrew and remove the top windshield quickly.
Tubing insulation across the top for aesthetics.
Are flow still comes in from the top.
Been working very well.

I took a look at making these myself with some 1/4" Polycarb AR on both sides and for two pieces cut to 47x28..enough to do both front and rear was 566 bucks :( plus shipping at Tap plastics. Then I still need the mounting hardware...and make the things. For 606 (with our 10% discount) at SATV I can get the tilt-out front shield and full rear...ready to install including everything.. using the very same stuff. It's a no brainer..for me that is.
