Does anybody know if the winch on a zforce 800 has a release so you can just pull thhe cable out with out using the winch itself?  I don't seem to find one,

Yes...its the knob on the driver's side of the main body. Release the cable enough to take tension off it, then turn counter-clockwise to release/freespool, clock-wise to lock. Just like the arrow shows.

Works even when buried in mud.  Its hard to get at.  I now power my cable in and then unlock the spool.  I use a tiny zip tie to hold in place.  When you need it just grab the hook, break the zip tie, then pull.  It prevents the mess you are about to see in the video.  Little factoid here:  In 31 years of offroading I have never been stuck as bad as you see in this video.  If you back it up the RZR in front of me straddled the mud hole.  I wasn't paying attention and thought is was solid ground with a little mud.

Just so you know.  I like linking my videos in the topic of the post.  To give you an idea of how deep this hole is, that camera is mounted on the cage just below the roof.  I had to crawl out through the side about the door and, I barely fit.
