Problems with CFMOTO
« on: March 30, 2023, 02:11:47 PM »
Hi,

I am canadian and live in Toronto, I am not sure if anyone else has had problems with CFMOTO and your warranty like I am currently dealing with.

I have been told the dealers in Canada compared to USA are much worse with how CFMOTO treats their dealers, and then the ripple effect of how the dealers treat their customers.

I had an overheating issue since last year, First time I took my bike in they replaced the thermo switch, I took my bike home, went for a ride in a wide open trail going about 50km/hr. Thought everything was okay, till I got into smaller trails and slower speeds. Then my bike overheated right away.
Took my bike in a second time, They replaced the thermostat gasket, took it home on a small trail and overheated right away.

In the middle of winter I went for a ride on the trail by my house and it climbed up to 5 bars.

I have been in constant talks with my dealer technician who has told me 4 bars is normal for the bike, then I read on this forum that everyone else seems to say 3 bars is the normal.
When i was continuing to blow 15A fuses, the technican told me to use 20A fuses.

Now this dealer is telling me I can bring my bike in but the warranty does not cover removing the radiator, cleaning and replacing it. They are trying to charge me a 2.5 hour labour service.

Fed up with this dealer I contacted the other one closest to me and they told me that they charge their customers too as a "down payment" till they get their money back from CFMOTO. If that even ends up being paid back.

Am I in the wrong here to be shocked by the way I am being treated?
Has anyone else had to deal with this issue?

Thanks for your time,
Mark

Man that’s insane we have 5 dealers in ns an I’ve never heard of that my dealer is great
I’d call another even if it’s not close

If you know anyone that does heatpump cleaning have them give the rad a clean with there cleaner an gun set up works wonders I use it on mine there low pressure but get all the gunk out
If that’s the problem which I don’t think it is or it wouldn’t stay cool on open trails

Can you hear the fan kick on ?

Yes fan is constantly running if I have a 20A fuse in, the 15A kept blowing but other than the technician, nobody believes you should ever have more fuse than what came with the bike.

I forgot to mention. Its a 2021 CFORCE 800XC and I have 850KM on the bike.
It was at 710KM before I went on the wide open trail that was about 100KM long

That's crazy...and a fan motor shouldn't pull more then about 8 amps..so there is something bad wrong with the motor clearly. Down here a 2021 would be well out of warranty.

There’s not a lot to the cooling system
You can start on one end an work your way through it

Any chance there’s air in the system ?
Have you tried running it with the cap off a the res topped up ?

Take pics and document each step.
Here? I seem to have a GOOD dealer.

Screw the wankers near you. they sound quite sloppy and unprofessional.

I would look for pinched harness wires for your fuse issue. Also does it have any A/M add ons? grip heaters, etc? is it possible something is tapped off the fuse that shouldnt be or is the fan unit not spinning freely and causing excess draw? When its not running you should be able to spin it easily.

blockages in the lines and fins (which there shouldnt be this new) Not unless you face planted it in the mud.
Other than getting TO the lines theres little to the cooling system.

My 22 800XC runs between 3-4 bars. It's never gone over Four and if Im cruising stays in the three bar most of the time.
Mine also does NOT have the evap set up

"If" what I have heard is correct though, the factory tends to set them a bit lean for economy, but if its too lean it is definitely going to cause you to heat up. crappy gas could also contribute to heating issues as well.

theres two outfits that can do a ECM remap and change that and get more hp and better over all perfomance.

Im pinching pennies for mine.

My experience with the machine itself strongly suggests that many peoples issues are because of sloppy dealers.
They seem to be miffed over the last few years that they couldnt GET the control modules for their "premium machine" and dont put the care into the CFMoto as its seen as a "lesser" machine.

Ive actually heard it out of a few mouths.

My only issue (and it's highly likely my doing) is I killed a tail light. Sure enough that it was probably ME I just replaced it.

@NMK. The problem started while I was still under warranty, brought it to their shop and thats when they just replaced the termo switch.

@Lazydayz I have taken the cap of to bleed the possible air out of the system, I did that around November thinking I wouldnt find out till spring/summer if it actually worked. Yet when I took my bike out in February my bike still reached 5 bars.
Thank you for the drawing as I might need it depending on their responses.

@Ulfthednar The only thing I have done to this bike is add 2" lift kit and snorkel kit. This is my first ATV so I have yet to become a mudder. Sure I have gone in the easy stuff, but yet to have been stuck before, fins spin easy and rad looks pretty fresh. Also I am using the premium gas

As you said and what I have read from other people on this forum that 3 bars is their normal and sometimes goes up to 4, fan kicks on and back to 3.
When I first got the bike I noticed my bars went up to 4 and usually stayed there the whole ride. Hardly ever went down to 3. So I always assumed 4 was normal because the booklet doesn`t say otherwise. Which makes me believe there possibly was a problem from the beginning.
