Thoughts?   In prepping to go to a very dusty ride, what do you think of a very thin sock being placed over the oem air filter on a 2023 zforce trail?

I wouldn't suggest it.  The filter is a Donaldson air filter and is very efficent in handling dust also  from what I have been lead to understand the "frogskin" pre-filter for the CVT and engine should block a lot of the dust.  If you are really worried you might carry a spare filter since it is real simple to get to unlike the previous models.

I contacted UNI and asked them about the 2023 Trail. They said measure the inlet and our filter will work at that size. 2.1/4 = part number NU-8703ST

Its on order and supposed to arrive 3/9+. I bought it off amazon so if it doesnt work it will be going back

Good. Remember to get a good foam filter oil treatment. Most of us use Maxima FAB1 and it's cleaner. I thought the new trails used the Donaldson filter and box. If so and it is a true Donaldson, not just a Chinese copy, that's what you want to stay with..IMO.
