Photobucket, what gives?
« on: September 23, 2016, 07:15:45 AM »
OK so this Photobucket thing is pissing me off. When I post pictures on here using Photobucket it allows anyone to have access to all the photos and account information on Photobucket. Additionally photobucket will not allow me to change the settings to private. So I deleted all the photos off of Photobucket. And now it has deleted all the photos off of here. What am I doing wrong? I'll delete Photobucket altogether if that's how it's going to work. I refuse to give the entire world access to all my photos.

Well, photobucket accounts are public domain so the photos are all accessible by the public. Same goes for photos uploaded to this server meaning anyone can view them. And when you post a link to a photo on photobucket here..its just a link, not the actual photo so when you delete that photo from photobucket, that link goes nowhere. I have thousands of photos on my account that everyone has access to. There are no personal photos there so that's fine with me..and you really do not want personal photos on the internet anyway.  I will have to check but I pay for an upgraded account and it allows me to create private and or password protected libraries. Here's a link to mine:

Thank you! I got to thinking about it after I posted my question and thought that might be the way it works. I don't mind anything I post on here being public obviously. But photobucket wanted to upload my entire library. (Not cool) I didn't allow it to, but didn't like the idea that it still has access to my library. I'm sure a hacker could find a way in. I guess I'll just have to live with it. It really sucks you have to pay just to make a private album. Dang technology always prying into places it doesn't belong. Big brother is a jerk lol

I don't think it has any links to anything on your P/C or phone. When I need to upload something to photobucket I have to go through some steps to locate the file. Now I can specify an entire folder for upload...but that's probably not a good idea.
