Patiently waiting.
« on: April 22, 2016, 11:08:16 PM »
Waiting on my Z to come back.
Sent it in for the overheating problem, said its fixed but waiting on the NEW rear shocks to come in. They weren't "shot" or broken, just a slight rubbing of the spring causing a "moaning" noise as you got out of it. (Spring was slightly bent) The GOOD NEWS is that they are covering it under warranty. Hopefully it will be this week sometime.

Somebody should just buckle down and buy the Elka kit for this buggy. ATV Galaxy has stage 3 or 4 kit for 1500 smackers.

Definitely did not hit anything to bend them, and don't really think they were bent before hand because they didn't make the noise for the first 76 miles. Think it was just a weak part in the spring that made it very slightly bend. So slightly that the spring would "chatter" against the shock during idle. I "fixed" it by tightening down the preload and it stopped but came back.

--as far as getting the Elka shocks, I am now accepting donations to purchase them....please feel free to send as much as you like.... It will be a burden to change all 4....but for the good of the group I will endure the work.  LOL.

About 176 miles.  Noticed the noise at about 76 miles and addressed it with the dealer. CFMOTO recommended rotting the spring 180* to see if that would fix it, but since it didn't they are just replacing the rear shocks, dealer also said that Cfmoto said that the NEW shocks have the reservoir slightly further away from the spring.  So in any case, I'm happy with having the new shock design. I am curious if they will be the split (2spring) setup or the long single spring as I've seen in another post.

The 2016 I test rode the other day had split 2 stage springs, but the reserviors were about 4-5mm away from the spring as it sat at the dealer. So if yours are close enough to touch the springs, they may very well have been updated. The driver front however was leaking fluid around the reservior cap seal.

Honestly, I think the Elka upgrades are a priority mod on these buggies. The best shocks are always the way to go on any machine. So if they become problematic as they have been with ends stripping off, springs rubbing, adjusters not clicking or stuck you get rid of all that. Hats off they tried to include some decent shocks for not much coin.
