Shouldnt have to be asking this . . GRRR.

So I changed my oil the other day and went to change my o-ring and drain plug washer.

Problem is, the ones I ORDERED that were supposed to be for my 800 XC are nowhere near the same as what's on there.

The ID of the drain plug washer is about 3/16 of an inch larger than the original and the o-ring for the 3 bolt filter cover is way to large and appears to be slightly smaller in overall diameter.

Kinda ticks me off because I ordered a few extra to have on hand for "just in case" events.

ALL of them including the one in one of the "oil change" sets are all wrong.

the o-ring is roughly an eight larger diameter, at least. doesnt even touch the ring flange on the cover.
I can fit the correct o-ring in the gap . . .

fortunately I can get another oil change out of the ones on the bike, but the o-ring is starting to get hard (not brittle, just getting hard) and the sealing washer for the plug is showing it's age.

the bike itself is doing great . . 1600+ miles, no glitter, debris or sludge in the oil at all.

Anyone else run into this issue and howd ya fix it?

I'm still using the same O-ring and drain washer it came with. I have some extra O-rings from filters I bought in the past but if they are not flattened, and they won't if you don't over-torque the bolts, no need to replace them, And the drain seal/washer- same thing- as long as you don't over tighten it and use an anti-sieze..even a touch of good pipe dope as I do, it too will last nearly forever.

Maybe just take them to a big box hardware store & match them up? I don't recall seeing Menards that far west - they are a competitor to Home Depot & Lowes. Menards has just about any fastener, washer, o-ring that a person can think of.

I needed an o-ring for the CO2 adapter I use for refilling my soda stream bottles from a larger 5lb bottle. I didn't find a perfect match but did find one that is  marginally thicker that fit & seals.

Probably get some if needed from Amazon. Has to be neoprene or Automotive grade for the oil but take the cover and measure in millimeters across the inside edge where it sits, then the o-ring thickness and do a search.
