Oil in air intake box
« on: June 05, 2016, 10:39:16 PM »
Was doing routine maintenance on my 2015 cforce 500 and found oil in my air intake box.  Does anybody have any idea why this would happen?

Others are having this issue. They will chime in but it has to do with some design flaw that is correctable and an overfilled crankcase.

Currently on the 400 and 500 motor there has been problems with oil being blown into the air box by over pressurized crankcase. There is a warranty kit available for this problem and can be corrected at your nearest dealer. You may have to wait for this kits to arrive, but please contact a dealer to sort this problem
If it has Pistons or Tits you will encounter problems.

Its a known issue with all CForce, UForce, and ZForce models.

Unfortunately, the factory has only come up with a final fix for the ATVs. There is no fix yet for the UTVs. I am supposed to be receiving 3 UTV kits at some point, but they aren't the final production fix-kit.

What I have been installing on my is an Air/Oil separator that HiSun uses on their 500 & 700 engines. It goes inbetween the crankcase and the air box. Basically you take the vent tube, cut it in half, and install this piece.

Had the same problem with my 500 zforce . The fix my dealer was told to do by Cfmoto Canada was lower the oil to 2.4 from 2.9 and to vent a crank seal . Have driven about 180 km since the repair and no oil in the air box

Lowering the oil was the initial thought but it's not the case and i would not continue running it that way. The factory is in the process of relocating the crankcase vent.

I can tell you know from experience that I had a hisun 700 and the air oil separator does not work so if my 500 zforce ever has this issue I hope they can come up with something else because the air oil separator is not a real fix it collects oil in the clear tube and oil will end up all over the floor and ground

interesting. I have 6 units running these. over 1600 miles logged between the 6, no issues... Customers have no complaints, and they get to use their machines meanwhile CFMoto has yet to send the promised recall kits I've been promised for two months.

The Yamaha Rhino had the same problem once you started modding it to make more HP.  We all did these - http://www.kmsperformance.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=31 .  It allows the oil to gather in the small tank and drain back into the crank case.  Im sure the CF Moto could benefit from the exact same thing.

Just as and FYI we found out that the Rhinos only pulled oil in if they were run flat out for a min or more.  The CF Moto may be different but either way the above fix would work for sure.
I can imagine a world completely at peace.  A world where there are no weapons, no war, and no violence at all.  And I can imagine us taking over that world because they would never expect it.

my z force 500 had the same issue. dealer documented that cf moto did not have a fix yet. mechanic suggested putting a oil seperator on hose and elevating it. Was wondering if a pcv vavle off a car would work better. Any suggestions?

They have a fix for the 500ho and 400. I would press the dealer a little bit. He should have the TSB for it. The kit to get it done, maybe not.

The dealer was on the phone with cf moto for 45 minutes about this issue. they said they were still working on a fix. I would think they would have some sort of fix by now. I just don't know what the hold up is. Dealer gave me extra oil and told me to check often. I would Have to agree with the earlier comment about running at high speeds. I never had any issues until then.

This is the fix

For the ATVs which helps the OP.

They still don't have a production kit for the SxSs because of the cooling fan off the mag cover that the ATVs don't have.
