Oil capacity question
« on: July 17, 2021, 09:33:44 PM »
While checking my oil in my cforce 500s before a ride today, I noticed the oil level was about a 3/4 of an inch over the full mark. When I serviced it I let the oil drain out all of the way and replaced the filter. My manual said to use 2.8 liters or 2.96 quarts of oil after change. I put all three liters in my bike. I used a 2 oz. cattle syringe to suck out the extra oil. I sucked out about half a quart or 16 oz before I got it to the full line. That means my bike holds roughly 2.5 liters of oil. Does anyone else find that their cforce takes more or less oil than called for by cfmoto?

Just check it without screwing the dip sick in. When it's on the full mark after running enough to refill the oil filter, passages, lines and cooler.. is what it is. :)   I just fill mine to the full mark and maybe slightly over. Then run it for 15-20 seconds and check it again. Then fill it to the full line...what ever it takes.

Agreed that the dipstick is the way to go. I am only concerned because my machine shows full with a half of a quart less that required by the manufacturer. That's a lot when were only talking about 3 quarts total!

Also make sure you are on level ground.  If it says full I'd leave it.  I've had old Honda bikes be 3/4 qt. low at oil change and that didn't make the low oil pressure light come on.  Prolly do more damage by overfilling a half qt than being a half shy IMO.
