Well, the wife had to drive into town, so I opted to stay home and take the CForce out on the local BLM trails.
Yeah, I am 55 years old and today was the first time I have ever ridden an ATV for more than 5 minutes.
Let me say up front, I wish I would have ridden with a very experience rider. I had so many questions throughout the ride and it would have been nice to follow the line of a great rider.
Let me also say... I have a brand new CForce and I have no way of knowing if my riding experience is the result of a poorly tuned machine. The day I purchased it, they literally pulled it out of the crate and threw it together quickly. I am guessing the suspension is set to some neutral, generic position.
Observations......
1. It ain't a dirt bike. My trail/racing bike is a WR450, a beast with about 54hp the way I have it tuned. I didn't grow up racing, but later in life, I really got into mountain enduros and my skills are pretty darn good. I can predict what my bike will do in nearly every situation. With the CForce, I was very uncomfortable with off-camber and ruts would tend to unpredictably throw me one way or another.
2. The longer I rode, the rougher the quad felt. I wonder if it had to do with suspension and tires heating up. Not sure.... It was plush when I started and a little stiff feeling at the end. I need to study and read about the suspension adjustability.
3. I rode for about 2 hours and by the end I was much more comfortable with how it behaved. I was faster and more aggressive with the throttle toward the end.
4. Most of the riding, I kept it in 2WD and rode in High. When I would encounter a steeper climb, I would stop, put it in Neutral, shift to 4WD and then shift to Low. After the climb, I would stop and shift it back in to 2WD.
5. Man it is squirrely on pavement, running faster than 30mph. The power steering is very sensitive.
At the end of the day, I fell in love with it and the 1000 Twin produces tons of power and the machine will Rip!
