No Start ?

Hello ,

I have a 2016 ZForce800.  1000 mils bought with 900.  on the trail losing power then died out wouldn't start  towed home by a RZr   that was the worse part >:(   . 

Airfilter extremely clogged,  put on a new one oiled  fired up after 2-3 tries then bamm awesome power.  pulled in and out of garage a few times then when outside .  I topped off with gas  tried to start later nothing...  it cranks but does not fire.

1) I can hear the fuel pump
2) sprayed some starter fluid
3) charged battery

Im at a loss   any help appreciated.

Going to have to test a few things like compression, spark, fuel pressure & volume and line voltage while cranking. Also test CPS and check the valve lash.

Might just be a fouled plug. Something to check while doing the other checks

i am in similar situation. my 2017 worked fine last time i drove it. sat for a week and then just cranks wont start. dash lights all flicker while cranking. with key in on position a relay continuiously clicks and horn wont sound and when headlight toggle is turned on it makes a buzzing sound. i did drive in a river last time i drove it. dealer is tryin to tell me its the fuel pump.( warranty ran up less than a month ago) of course. but a faulty fuel pump wouldnt cause all those other electrical issues. anyone else run into this ? wet fuse panel crossing over maybe? relays are working. has new solenoid to starter. my guess is water being the demom. any ideas?

Some main fuses have been getting wet and corroding. It's probably electrical connection-related anyway. Start there.

Dealer told me if you can hear he fuel pump whining under passenger seat then its good.  Can you hear yours ?

The plugs sure are tight to the cyl wall I am trying to find a 5/8" SP socket that is thin enough to fit in there.

Measure the DC voltage across the battery while cranking & see what the voltage is dropping to.

My guess is the battery is not up to task, happens to new batteries.
ZF 800 LX Trail, stock for now.......not for long.

Don't know if your referring to me or the high jacker...... I think his completely different issue

Battery at rest 12.66 Vdc  = Good Battery    Cranking 11.49Vdc - I think this still a good Battery  ...???

Spark good Blue Spark,
Plugs not fouled ,
Compression good both Cyl,
NO Luck Starter FLuid,
Checked all fuses in the little box  all good.
 cant locate Main fuse but  Cant locate main fuse but would think it would have more issue than I have  -they were dust packed so blew out with compressed air.
Line Volts at battery 11.49Vdc while cranking

Should Brake lights come on with Brake pedal  read 2xs press brake pedal and start ,  my lights don't come on so maybe a bad sensor/switch ?



--CPS what / where is it how do I test it
How do I test and where fuel Volume and Pressure ...but wouldn't it at least pop with the Starter fluid sprayed in at the Air intake tube ?  I got no change

If you are getting spark and you sprayed a starting fluid in and it had good compression you should get some sort of pop. The other thing could be ignition timing is off. valve timing should be close enough to pop if it has good compression. sounds like you have no spark or you didn't spray starting fluid directly in the throttle body intake.

Yes Took #2 plug (not fouled) ... out connected to the plug wire laid on the head and cranked  saw the good blue spark.

Sprayed Ether into the opening of the air filter with air filter removed  ***** ASSUMING correct location to spray

NOTHING   driving me crazy   it has to be something SIMPLE    ran great just before

Yes that is a strange one then. have you tried cranking with the throttle opened up and at the same time spraying the starting fluid?  It really seems like it would be a fuel problem. you have compression and spark, even if it was sparking at the wrong time it should pop and do something. it's really hard to diagnose strange problems when you aren't there in person x.x
