No more fenders
« on: June 18, 2021, 09:01:16 PM »
When I went to dealer to exchange shocks one of the employees had his white 800 ex there and I was sold. He had the same lift with 30 in tires. He had removed the fenders and wow it looked tough. So I copied haha. Now I just need to find some tires

Oh for sure. But I'm looking for some doors or half door inserts. Think that will help quite a bit. Maybe I'm wrong. Had anyone on here built there own? If so, do you have a pdf or scetch or pic? Pretty handy at building stuff but dont want something cheesy looking. At least that's what the better half keeps telling me haha

First time you get hit in the back of your head with a rock you’ll put them back on.

For me the one and only time I ran mine without fenders it threw mud the size of your fist up and forward so I was driving in it as it rained-down on me..all over. Put probably 200lbs on it...and me before I could get out of it...and it was that red adobe mud/clay. After that I bought the EX fenders. That stopped all that but it looked just too funky so off they came. Built my own just wide enough to catch the outside edge of the tire. Perfect...until I put the spacers on. Now I get some but I can live with it.

I put the EX fenders on the trail we have, didn't like the mud being thrown up and into bed and all over.

Man I'd be willing to trade some ex fenders for some lower doors haha. We drive slow mostly. Mud though dont care how slow you drive haha. We will take it out in a few weeks and will love it or hate it. We will see

Speed has nothing to do with it. It definitely looks good with out them, but you are going to get rapped up in mud and dirt. I actually put small mud flaps on the front fenders. That helped alot. PLEASE Send pics of the first ride without them,I need a laugh.

Oh I will. We have been covered both rides already haha. Mostly dust where we ride. But first ride I knocked both drive side off. We were pretty dirty. But with helmet goggles and now a windshield hopefully things will go better haha. We take some clean clothes in a dry bag we use for kayaking. So a quick change after load up and all is fine. Flipped cargo net up to cove back cage opening to keep big debris from coming in from behind. Hopefully we will be going back out on it about the 11th or so. Got some camping planned before then. I'll make sure I get a picture before we change so you can get your chuckles in haha

By the way. On my ex the tires stuck out a few in past the fenders already. So maybe just maybe it wont be too much worse. I've got my fingers crossed haha

I did, too.  Extended the bottoms because that weird little angle allowed stuff to hit me on my left elbow.  That little mod really did help.

I posted some pics of our first ride with no fenders at Blue Hollar offroad park. we didnt seem to get much more mud than before and it was super muddy today since it stormed all night. Granted we've gotten a lot better at knowing what this little billy goat will climb haha. So did better job of wheel placement. By the way it will climb through some deep mud slow and steady with the locker engaged.
