No front diff activated
« on: November 11, 2023, 08:16:13 PM »
Hi my 2022 cfmoto 625 something weird is happening.
I can hear the 4wd relay and front diff lock relay click but on dash it will not show 4wd.
I lifted all wheels off ground 2wd and rear wheels spin and so does the front tailshaft? Is that normal?
When in 4wd only back wheels spin but on dash it stays in 2wd.
What could be the cause?

The front drive shaft will always spin as long as the transmission is turning. The actuator locks-in the axles to the carrier and locks the two together when in diff-loc. The light changes from 2 to4wd and back again when the actuator moves to a certain positions.  From what you are saying, the actuator, although making some noise, isn't completing it's moving range. You need to pull it and check the slide block the drive gear moves for stripped teeth as well as a bent fork and when off you can work the actuator and see if the light changes when off. If it doesn't, you can help it by turning the gear a bit manually. If this makes the light come on there is something wrong inside the actuator. Replace it. You can see the slide block and gear in this pic.

Thanks for the reply, so I removed the actuator this morning and I re connected the earth but no 4wd showing on dash even with earth connected.
I can smell a burnt electronic smell coming from actuator.
This actuator is not like others I have seen before.
I tried operating the 2wd to 4wd and even pressed the F lock button but actuator did nothing.

Have you seen one like this before? This is what the 625 has.

Never seen one like that...anywhere. None that come to the US are built like that...at least none I've seen...unless you have split the actuator. Post more photos on the diff and what's left there.

This is the other half to what I posted. Very different to what I seen on YouTube.
It smells burnt I reckon it’s this but I got the local CFmoto shop looking at the problem this coming Monday 👍

For anyone who has the 2023 model I got the bike fixed under warranty. It was the front actuator on the diff. It had burnt the motor out.
Working now again.

I have same problem. This small motor was completely burned down. I installed new one, (165€ :D) and it worked for 10km? I only turned it on once when I screwed on a new servo motor. Got a new engine under warrant (but im sure the problem is somewhere else). I will replace all the relays too. Because I saw somewhere on a French forum that someone had the same problem. Had several servo motors burned down Finally took it to the dealership for repair, and turned out that the relay was bad (it worked, but burned the servo motor).
