New and Confused
« on: September 20, 2022, 07:48:55 PM »
Hello folks... I bought a new 2022 cfmoto zforce800 trail last saturday (sept. 17th) Absolutely love it so far. Since i'm going to attempt most of the maintenance myself, i decided to see if i could find some youtube videos of the procedure. I found a very interesting post. Seems the new 2022 zforce 800,s came out with a new engine. In the manual i got with mine, it shows to remove the passenger seat, remove the cover and locate the engine oil dipstick. Well, there's a dipstick there, but evidently its for the transmission. The engine oil dipstick is on the passenger side back by the rear tire. 2 dipsticks. So does the transmission oil stand alone and need changed too? The manual i have says nothing about 2 dipsticks or transmission oil change. Also, evidently if your clutch cover is plastic....you got the newer engine. Now, i'm brand new to the side by side thing so i can only tell you all what i heard. I called the dealer and now they are confused and said they would get back with me. Any body know anything about this? thanks...

Alright. Yours is basically the same engine as my CForce 800 xc ATV.
Yes, the Transmission oil is separate from the engine oil.
You also have two diffs and some other things to check as well.
Mine came factory with maxima 10w40 mineral based oil and 75w90 Synthetic Gear oil in both diffs and the transmission.
The owners manual has the basic rundown on the maintenance and break in routine.

Call the shop you bought it from and find out WHAT oils they used as they might have used different grades.
Also, GET THE SERIVCE MANUAL, it is much clearer on certain aspects of the task and gives you a good breakdown on "how to get to your engine".

The Valve adjustment was very straight forward and easy. Just take your time and be patient.
Ive done a lot of mech work before but, really even in the ATV frame it was a pretty easy task, like a TWO on a one to ten scale.

You need a trim puller set to pop the plastic push pins. the narrow forked one works great.

A good set of feeler gauges a good Flat blade screwdriver an an 8 or 10 mm wrench for the actual valves.

I ended up using a mirror for my front exhaust so I could see my gauge, but that might not apply on your chassis.

heres a link to a list of vids on the subject, too.
