But really, the race kit they well for it has a wet clutch delete and I think an exhaust and programmer. The wet clutch delete helps, I think that is the main weak link. I would do that if you want to race, then I would toy with the idea of low boost turbo and see if you can retard the timing. If the pistons aren't made of complete crap it should hold a few psi fine. I dunno about the bottom end but hell if you are that into it I'm sure you could find a fun replacement engine from something else then throw the turbo on that
