So i went on a pretty decent ride today. About 20 miles of rough terrain.  On the way back i was on the road for about a mile or two.  Doing about 45. I noticed what smelled like belt all of a sudden.  Felt no change didn't feel like anything was slipping.  I got back to the house and couldn't really smell it anymore.  I touched the clutch cover and it was pretty damn hot.  I could touch it but would have to remove my hand after a couple seconds.  Is that heat normal?   I'm gonna chalk it up to fluke atm. It seemed i smelled it on deceleration actually after a recently hard braking. My buddy behind me said he saw smoke but he thought it was from a car that passed us.

Mine's never been that hot. But I do clean my CVT filters after every ride. I left the stock one in because it did catch a lot. Might check yours and make sure nothing is blocking the intake.

I also noticed i seemed to have trouble getting passed 60mph. It gets up to 50 real quick then starts climbing slower i looked down a couple times after being full throttle for probably 5 6 seconds (after already being at 45) and i think the most i saw was 61. I'm hearing everyone is getting over 70 stock.  I'm all stock.  60 miles on the machine.  This is the first time i actually gave it full throttle for any period of time.  I got the machine a month ago, it was a demo that had 20 miles when i got it.  I feel like something is wrong here.

If the belt did start slipping at some point it will glaze very fast. Then at or near full shift-out it will tend to slip on the clutch with the least contact area which will be the secondary. That will leave a tell-tail mark somewhere between 1/2 way to all the way down to the bottom of the sheaves. I think I would pop the cover and take a look. Also take a look for shiny contact surfaces on the belt. Being a demo it may have started before you even got it. Wouldn't want the clutches to become too damaged.

I took it for a speed run last night down a longer road more flat. It gets to 60 pretty quick. I did get to 70 it just creeps those last 10 miles. I only drove it about half a mile, when I got back I felt the cover it wasn't hot just warm. I did smell slight rubber smell when I parked it, but kinda strange I smelled the belt intake and didn't smell it I actually smelled it more by the left rear tire. In the near future I think I will be clocking the secondary up a notch anyway so I will see what I see when in there. I'll be pissed if I need a belt already because the dealership smoked it when they had it as a demo. They told me oh yea it was just driven lightly in our lot here.... Which I know was a lie and called them out on it seeing as the skid plates were already scratched and the diff covers dented.
