Mass air flow sensor question
« on: November 25, 2017, 03:15:37 PM »
I am currently running a uni filter on my z8 and the past couple of rides it hasn't been running well. After reading some threads here I decided to clean the mass air flow sensor. When I took it apart it was VERY dirty I looked down the hole that the sensor sits in and in the bottom was a small puddle. I stuck a q tip down there and it smells like fuel also it was slightly brown like some dirt got past the filter ( yes I do oil the filter and also have an outerwears pre filter )so my question is should there be a build up of fuel in the crossover and could a dirty air flow sensor cause excess fuel in that area and what can I do about the dirt getting past the filter

I thought it was a mass air flow sensor too but the book says it
s an air temp sensor. Still..it is cleaned with mass air flow spray cleaner...lol. I found when using my old No Toil oil it would pull through and get that sensor wet so I quit using it and went to FAB-1 and after working it completely through I ring it in a paper towel to get the excess out. Then let it dry completely before running the engine. Last check of the sensor it was dry and clean. I have two filters on mine so it better not get anything through it. It's said...and proven that the TwinAir's PPIs are more and that means finer filtration. I run a TwinAir in the inline can and the oversized Uni in the box...both oiled with FAB-1.

O2's in the exhaust not reporting correctly will cause a poor run condition. Potentially they maybe contaminated by oil or something thru the intake.

No MAF in CFMOTO Fuel injection system. MAP & Air intake temp would be the sensors of choice I'm sure. I need to look & see  :)

MAP & Air intake temp would be the sensors of choice I'm sure.

The online manual calls it a T-MAP sensor, MAP and intake air temp in one unit.

I bought this setup recommended by others on the forum. I have not installed it yet but once i get the power steering fixed and back from the shop it is going on. Nothing but great reviews from the oiled filter users

You need to get that filter on before even the next time you turn the key. Every revolution that engine makes with the stock paper filter is pulling damaging partials through taking thousands of miles off the engine's lifespan. Thanks to that stock filter many are not even getting 500-800 miles out of their top ends. Don't wait.

Nice read.. I used fab1 from the start w my UNI and haven't had a prob. But anytime oil filters are involved, oil residue in the intake system is going to happen. Just add a cleaning to the maintenance schedule! I'm deffinatelaty interested in the twin filter system, going to have to check it out.
