I have purchased Chinese brake pads for the front of my 2016 zforce 800.
I have removed the calliper and old pads pushed the pistons right in so they are flat with the calliper and out the new pads in. Now the gap is not enough to go over the disc. Is this a common problem with Chinese pads and is it just a case of sanding them down until they fit?

I ran into that exact same problem and yes, I used a belt sander on them until they fit...the first time. Then I bought EBCs and they were right.

Use a caliper on them while sanding to keep them even...and chamfer the leading and trailing edges slightly to help with squeal.   

Ditto. CFmoto pads. Had to shave them.
