I just finished installing my Scap doors and a SATV full solid rear window. I already had the SATV half front windshield from last season. I'm wondering now what to expect as far as air flow pattern and if this set up will greatly reduce the amount of dust settling in the cab. I took it for a drive yesterday around the neighborhood and there was noticeable air bouncing off the rear window,  it was a little windy that day. Thanks for the input.

First let me say I hated the CFM half shield. Useless in my opinion. I bought the SATV flip front and the solid rear at the same time. So I can only guess what yours will be like compared to mine with the flip open. Wind will still move in and be deflected off the rear to exit both sides mostly above the doors. A lot less dust will stay in as the flow will be strong enough to keep much of it suspended....but not all. After a few bad hail and rain storms you will be thinking about more windshield. The flip is a good option but...there is always a drawback. Closed, air deflects off to its side and causes negative air pressure at the window areas which causes it to suck in road dust low from the tire spray area through the cracks in the doors....which adds up in time. Without then great shield it would pull in from the rear...even worse. Opening the flip one stop does help and more would even more but fully open you shouldn't go over 25mph as it can tear it right off.  Somebody should design some doors with a F'n seal. Im working on some for mine right now.

Thanks NMK, my half with the flared lip on top makes a world of difference deflection the air off the occupants, but the dust was tremendous. We got caught in one downpour our last ride at the end of September, first rain we'd seen in over two months, and we got pretty nasty with the dust already caked on us. I'm just happy I was able to get my doors installed without taking a hammer to them, so with all the gaps I have they are too numerous to deal with sealing up lol. I thought about buying the SATV full front solid windshield to swop out with my half when it's cooler and maybe a shower was in the forecast, but we did pretty good at scheduling rides around rain last year and thats just another $350 I may regret spending.  I hope I won't look back at the end of this season and regret all this and my wife rolls her eyes and says I told you so....

I installed inserts and it made a huge difference on the amount of dust that gets into the cabin.  Still plenty dirty at the end of a ride, but nothing like it was before the inserts.  No back window, but do have the Super ATV flip up windshield.

I echo NMK's for the most part. I bought the SATV flip windshield  (and soft rear window) and I mark it as one of the best investments for the moto I have made. The split point is lower down than a half windshield and isn't in my line of sight and I've never been accused of being tall.
The dust thing however, varies. In Moab I did a few experiments on dusty roads and at certain speeds a closed windshield is better at dust control but when speeds reduce under 30 K, 20 MPH the dust starts to swirl in, mostly in the door gaps of my stock doors. In rain of course the windshield is worlds better closed. (ya think? ) and when it gets chilly I open the windshield in order to see what it would have been like if I didn't have it, and I shut the sombitch right away again. Brrr...
I have to say my initial fears it would be fragile due to the opening ability and living on gas struts, but that has proven groundless. I have had the SXS loaded in the pickup and forgot the window open and it has tolerated highway speed wind without change. :) Not a smart thing and I wouldn't have knowingly tried it. The windshield is pretty much level when fully opened and I guess it must knife through the air rather than generate lift, or not much lift.

But it must be said, nothing I have tried is as clean and interior dust free as no windshield and no rear window.

Another bonus, me and 5 quadding buddies went down a road/trail after an early snowfall and heavily snow laden branches hung across the trail constantly for a mile long stretch or better. Window open I ate a few lapfuls of snow before I shut it. I took the lead because of my having the windshield and I was able to brush on through with basically no more getting inside. Here I am at the stop where we have dropped below the snow line and the benefit of the windshield should be obvious. This resulted in no detectable scratches I have to say.

If I hate to say it, still I'd advise eating the half windshield and getting the flipper. :) It's that much better having the options.

For some reason mine is several degrees up from level when open. It really scoops the air. I once was doing about 30mph down a road, reached up to close it and couldn't pull it down until I slowed down to below 25. For me that was my calling not to exceed 25 with it up. If I could set it on some different holes to makennit straight out I could do faster.
