Just made my..hopefully..last major purchase for the Z
« on: January 25, 2017, 02:13:35 PM »
Been considering replacing my 10.1" tablet GPS for the real thing..one that I can see and works right.. for some time now and finally decided on one and purchased it. The Magellan TRX7. It will have the ability to not only go between all my vehicles and toys, but also be used as a tablet while on the road. Lots of additional map options including City and Arial/Sat in 3-D. Here's a little video.

Nice ..... I like it, I've got a Samsung tab4 with several map apps downloaded, don't really like it to much, can't seem to find any trails on the maps.

One of the things I did like about the big droid tablet was that with BackCountry Nav, you can download Arial and Sat. maps which makes it like looking at Google earth. You can see trails and where they go. Something this new one can do too but even better with HD Arial views. This all the 44+K trails others have uploaded already.

I downloaded Polaris navigation on my phone. It was pretty good, It can record your own trail. It got us out of a pickle once when we were trudging through random woods for 30 minutes trying to pick up a trail. Pulled out the phone and saw we were 200 feet from the trail. It gives you a satellite view like Google earth.  If you have tried it and like one better let me know, always up for good GPS app. This one you download maps so you don't need service, as most are.

Really like the options, but mostly the IP67 case, any electronic device out in the elements needs a waterproof protection.

Agreed...although out here as dry as it is, the old tablet didn't have any issues other then it was tough to see on the desert because of all the bright sun. No water around here...just sun and dust....lol
