Is this possible?
« on: October 03, 2020, 10:56:29 AM »
Still curious on the rpm issues on these 2020 600’s, pulled it off and weighed the slider weights, 10G’s? That would explain a lot if most others come with 25G’s, am I missing something here??

I don't know much about the 600's but my 2016 zforce 800 had rollers that were 24g. the cvtech primary runs a different style weight and slider setup.
My new 950 sport came with 14g weights similar to your style.
You can add a penny behind the weights to add weight as needed to make clutch maintain lower rpm. (I'm running a penny behind every other weight)
Also the primary spring rate can be changed to lower clutch engagement rpm and also peak power rpm. Pretty much trial and error there.
I also change my primary spring to lower the engagement rpm, I went from #0951-1036 (250/600) to a #951-014 (200/600).
Attached spring chart web site. https://usa.cvtech-aab.com/938-charte-ressort-trailbloc.html
Springs are color coded with paint so you can figure out what rate spring you have!

WOW!! Took your advise on the penny’s, holy crap, it’s like I bought a new machine, no more revving to 3k and slamming the belt, I can cruise the trails without the machine feeling like it’s vibrating apart and I still have a top speed of 52, which is fine by me, between the C1 setting on the secondary and the penny’s under each weight (I put 2 on each, yes there’s room)all the rpm issues are fixed, I’m leaving it just like it is, none of my other machines take off so smooth-like it’s supposed to, you guys are great, thanks for all the advise, I hope some other 600 owners try the same thing, and the best thing is- it only cost 12 cents, 2 penny’s = 5 grams, use newer ones, old ones weigh more

Just to clarify my post!

I added 1 penny in every other weight position.
Then must be evenly dispersed in order to maintain clutch balance!

Exactly what I saw before I joined this forum. Great ideas and info sharing.

My uforce 500 needs the same treatment. 3k to engage is a bit to much for an old codger like me. I understand somewhat about the power curve as we had to engage clutch at about 3500 on a Fuji 250 in order to get the sled to pull itself. After changing the comet clutch, the old Chapperelle with that peanut size engine would pull the skis off the snow at engagement.
RIDE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!

MEASURE WITH A MICROMETER, DOUBLE CHECK WITH A TAPE MEASURE, CUT WITH AN AXE!

IF IT CAN'T BE FIXED WITH A HAMMER, IT'S AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM!

I am new to owning ATV's but work on my boats, guitar amps and any other thing I can mod.

If I understand this correctly ( I am just learning about CVT systems) by adding wt to the clutch weights, the clutch will engage at lower RPM's?

I just took my 2021 CForce 600 out last weekend for the first time and def felt as though the engine was really reving high just to get it moving.  Thought maybe it was normal for CVT but it didnt feel rt to me.

Do you epoxy the pennies on?

thx

No, just push out the weights, put a penny in first, push the weight back in, you can experiment with more or less but make sure it’s distributed evenly so it stays balanced, once you figured out what works for you, you may wanna order the correct weights and toss the pennys

Thanks Dnorton1
Will adding the weight in fact cause the clutch to engage at a lower RPM?

Thanks so much.  Just learning this stuff

Absolutely, I don’t understand why they use such a light weight on these machines, rpm way too high, so much better now

So pop this center nut off and then I gain access to the weights?

Counter clockwise loosen?

Thanks

Bolt first then nut. I am told that both the retainer bolt and the nut are left-hand threaded. That makes them loosen when the clutch is held and the direction is from 12:00 to 1:00. Normally that's to the right...or righty-tighty..but not in this case. Go slow to confirm. Also it was noted that the torque value is quite high. Something like 110+ftlbs so it will be... interesting.

I strongly recommend not using an impact wrench. They tend to twist the bolt shafts enough to effect their ability to hold a torque on install...and as these are "Chinese steel" bolts, they are already minimum quality/grade to start with. Might twist the bolt right off...lol
