Ive heard you have to pull the clutch to change the belt is there ant truth to this ? I always carry a xtra belt just in case but if its not going to do me any good on the trail than why bother. 2016 zforce 800 ex

When I had my cover off the first time and the expansion bolt in the secondary I did try to take the belt off the pulleys without taking the clutches off. I did get it off the primary but could not get it between the case and the secondary clutch at the top. I didn't fiddle with it all that long...and there may be a way I didn't think of, but it looks to be...not possible...at least from my brief experience. Besides, getting too all the cover bolts means pulling the interior plastics...something I don't want to do trailside anyway. I just keep a good tow strap under my seat..and ride with buddys
