Hmmm...interesting idea. If I could do it and have it look good...have to look at that some more.

Well, I just took one side off and dummy-tested it. The bracket arm would have to be almost straight up to be 100% under the plastics and like Cosmosdan said, water would follow them to the cage then down to the seats if exposed so either it stays like it is or the roof gets a heat-job and re-formed.

Just a thought NMKawierider, what if you used a thin gauge aluminum and made a "hood" to cover the light, spay it flat black to match silicone and pop rivet into the roof.
If you think of a hood over a dryer vent but wider.

That's kinda the idea behind heat forming the plastic except your way would make it much easier....and if I used some of that ABS I used for the fenders it would almost match the roof...Hmmm.. :)

By the way, in case anyone need this info, that 7" LED pulls 2.4 amps.

I like the heat idea, just wondering if there is enough roof material to do it.

I think so if I only have to bring it up say 40 degrees or so and let the sides taper instead of being a sharp 90 degree bend. How to do that is still unresolved...lol. I am almost thinking a smaller light would be easier as I just wanted something to light up the area right behind the machine and say a 8x10 trailer. What I have in this flood light is a light that fills and area over 16+ feet wide and over 60 feet long..kinda overkill. It would stop people from riding my ass on the dark though....lol

I was going to buy this 2-24" set and put one in front and one in back...so glad I didn't.

Well, there is always option-3. First you resolve yourself to the fact that this is a 100% flood light and as such it isn't necessary to have it as high as necessary. Then you fab-up some short "L" brackets and turn your mounts around. Now it's tucked away under the roof edge and where it's almost not noticeable from either direction but still..throws out a light that's way-overkill.

Thanks. I might just make some new brackets for the front that let it down and in slightly. I wanted it to be like Flash's but the windshield stopped that idea. As you see in the videos...and you know from some of our rides, tree limbs are a problem and need to slide smoothly up and over the top. Where it is 85% of the time it would probably be OK but...there's always the one bad F'ker that will tear it off.:)

In fact I just did this. Brackets are built, painted and drying now. Will assemble tomorrow morning and take some pics. I was able to bring it down 2.75" and in 1.25". Its as low and back as it can now and will be well out of the way of 99.8% of tree limbs. Looks better too...IMO

OK, all done. It took a couple of custom brackets with a 45 degree drop angle:

And that put it under the roof line and not in the way of the windshield:

Giving it a much more trim look….and less likely to snag tree limbs.

OK, on to the next project  :)
