Interco Sniper 920. RNG Clutch kit.
« on: October 12, 2024, 06:47:50 PM »
So after about 2000 miles in the Interco Sniper 920, I love em.
They do lose a little in soft silty deep dust going up a steep hill. (squinch!) :o
I had to secure myself with my winch and worky myself back in line today.
I hit this deep dust pile and my rear tried to pass my front on a near 40 degree incline.
I've made it up to my upper yard dozens of times and got taken by surprise when I went sideways.
They do well in the snow, mud and pavement and I feel they're more controllable drifting dirt corners.
The CST Abuzz get a little unpredictable at times.

But the brakes held (again) while deploying the winch and I was on my way.

The original RNG primary kit with the SRM 3 Sringray Mods Helix and secondary works great (Ive ran it on both bikes).
It does lose some top end but it really pulls hard with the helix.
I keep the primary kit on and generally run with the stock helix most of the time.

The primary kit completely eliminates the slight lag when taking off and punches out great.
It's smooth and pretty well entirely eliminates the lurch and rattle.
Its a slighty softer CVTech main spring with 18 gram weights as opposed to the 16 gram stock weights.

I will be getting the primary kit for the second bike (or first one) and I'm waiting for the new RNG R1 Scorpion Helix (a go faster version) for my daily driver.

The kit works well enough for my driving I really don't feel a need to get a tune, unless I can actually take the whole bike to a dyno and have it tweaked for my riding specifically.
I do some mudding, more snowing and more Woodland trails and dirt roads than bogging or racing. I reguarly hit over eighty miles and had a few hundred mile + days too.

I was out the other day on a 50"< trail (cough cough, more like 44") and found out it hadn't been cleared in quite a while. They had been working on clearing it some, but there was a lot of trail where I had to just ease my way through so I could watch out for snags and sharp jabby tire hating stubs.
I also had to back a good distance out of one area that was topsy turvy and barely wider than my wheels with a long nasty roll down a mountain if I screwed up.
When they built the trail they cut through some kelly humps (thats what we call the ditches they dig on roads they close up here) and left pits on one side and cut really close to the edge of the old road.
There was a couple of points where I had wheels hanging over air getting backed out.
Serves me right for not walking in a ways first.

Needless to say I found another way back around that brush covered trail.

The clutch functioned flawlessly without lurching or grabbing and I was able to squirm my way back out (they definitely havent cleared that section in years) and never once had to fight shifting back and forth making small cuts to change my direction.
I've put quite a few miles on the RNG primary kit but haven't ended up in a 'situation' before with it, and it worked great.
I'm going to see how each one performs with the tracks on as well - I didnt get a lot of time to test the SRM 3 helix a lot with the tracks on.

I've also found that the 2023 model, well they changed something a bit because it doesnt throw off the heinous heat that the 2022 one did before I did the header swap and exhaust wrap.
I picked up an IR gun and temped the 2022 before changing the header at a whopping 627 degrees coming of the cat.
