Instrument cluster issue
« on: March 03, 2025, 12:16:52 PM »
I own cf 2013 cf moto 600 trail tracker here in Newfoundland, Canada. 2 up ATV.    What is this machine called in other places?  C force u force etc???
Instrument cluster has been causing issues for few years now.   Instrument cluster lights up, but shows 111 km/h, odometer shows 111,111kms, fuel and temp gauges show lowest settings all the time.   I changed ingotion and it solved the problem for about half hour or Speedo odometer and all gauges worked properly then back to 111,111.   Occasionally I see everything cycling through all numbers ie 111-222-333etc then stops again.   4X4 works.  I hesitate to to replace speedo sensor because it all worked for short time when I changed ignition.   Any suggestions??

Hi Rob,
Sorry to learn you are getting issues with instrument cluster.
Start with the obvious i.e. the wire harness connection to the instrument cluster, check its secure, check there is no corrosion on it, if corroded use a spray can contact cleaner. I will not recommend a contact cleaner as there 100’s in the marketplace.
If the issue persists, I am sorry to inform you that it is more than likely the PCB i.e. the instrument cluster Printed Circuit board. A new PCB will be required, these can be repaired especially if its just a dry or cracked soldered joint, but you really do need some experience in these repairs with special tools and bespoke soldering irons otherwise one can destroy the PCB.
You can leave the bike in a garage or outside, in cold weather the inside of the instrument cluster filles with moisture, not ideal for electrical items of course. But until CFMOTO invest more into quality electricals with rubber humidifier sealing this is currently unpreventable.

In 2013 the only 600cc ATV was the X6...and it was not a 2-up or 2-seater ATV. The X5 LWB, a 500cc ATV was a 2-seater.  When you replaced the ignition switch I'm guessing you disconnected the battery which killed the constant power (parasitic) to the cluster. Then when reconnected it did all its checks and returned to the fault state it was in. Disconnect the battery for thirty seconds and re-connect it again and see if it does the same thing again. If so my guess is...the pod needs replaced but take a very chose look at the electrical connector for any signs of corrosion or discoloring. Spray it down with some good contact cleaner first.
