Idle issues
« on: November 12, 2020, 04:35:53 PM »
alright guys need serious help. I had my 2016 z force 800 ex rebuilt, everything internal is new. Now when I start it, it idles around 3400 3600. Just installed a new tps sensor and didnt do it. Altho if i unplug the tps while running it idles perfect. Between 1300 1400. Although if i switch the electrical connectors for the coil packs it won't start itll turn over groggy and back fire. I want to get this running so I can sell it and get out from under it. Anything is greatly appreciated. Thank you

I suspect either the idle air control valve has an issue or it is getting an incorrect signal from the ECU...and if there is no flashing MIL light, then there may be a sensor putting out a reading, just the wrong one. double check all the EFI system  connections..ie O2s, air temp, CPS, idle air control, water temp, fuel pressure...ect. The service manual will help you check all these as well. And put the coil wires back as they were.

I'm going to assume that the EFI controls were working ran fine before the rebuild, and that the original TPS is working within spec which makes me suspect an assembly issue

Is the throttle body butterfly fully closed at idle? Any potential sources for vacuum leak(s)?

Pulling the plug on the TPS  should  put the ECU in "default settings" mode. Does the MIL lamp illuminate when you pull the plug?
