Got ya.  I just went into as much detail as I did on my first post because not everyone understands what the settings on shocks do.  You seem to have a good grasp on it though.  I got busy and forgot to measure my shocks last night so i will set a reminder and do so tonight.  My measurements will be with 0 weight on them and unmounted from the machine just as an FYI.

I should have been more specific in what I did and what I want to accomplish, much easier for everyone to offer help that way. My grasp on this is only due to pouring over this site for the past few months, before this I was riding in the dark....dumb but happy. I will also follow up on your suggestion on another thread about a quick disconnect for the sway bar and thanks for pointing out that only one side needs to be disconnected, that's just common sense but I would have done both sides...duh.

Just another suggestion. On my Brute I moved the sway bar's a-arm attachment points inward (toward the frame) 2". This allowed almost twice the articulation but only increased the body roll a slight amount. I may do something like this with the Z. Had it this way for years on the Brute but recently because of all the extra equipment I was hauling in the trunk I decided to put them back to the original mount points. I did this relocation with clamp-on-type brackets. Might just try it but it looks like I may need to weld a bracket on this square tubing. I might have some pics of what I used on the Brute.. somewhere....

Mine is a 2012 that I bought as a demo from our dealer here in Costa Rica in July 2014, perhaps DNM is the OEM for CFMoto, or maybe CFMoto uses these if they are on back order with their primary source.

Thank you for replying, apparently, not many of us have them. My front ones are not stiff only the rears are, is that what you have found with yours?

Sorry it took me so long but here are the front and rear shocks together  (longer one is the rear) with measurements eye to eye

Thanks Chuddly, I had 20 children, grand children, and great grand children fly down to visit over the weekend and have not had the time to even think about dropping the a-arms to get a measurement, it was all I could do to keep it gassed up with everyone wanting to drive or ride in it. They are all out on tours today so maybe I can get some measurements.

Yes, that is my exact experience. I cannot seem to get a great adjustment. I have lowered my tire pressure to 5 psi and that has made a big difference. I just wish I had a little more ground clearance.

Strykelover, I can't tell you how happy I am with the 2" lift that I did, what an improvement! I chose to have a local mechanic cut new brackets and weld them on as my picture on this thread shows which was easy and inexpensive to do, however, if I were you living in the U.S. I would look for a set of used rear shocks that are 2" longer, that would give you the lift without any modifications and give you a better ride as well, I didn't have that option here in Costa Rica. I thought I saw a set of 4 used shocks for about $400 on this forum recently but I don't know what the length was, perhaps the seller would part with the rears, or as a few others have suggested on this forum find a set from a Polaris which are better than the CFMoto shocks. I think I'll drop my tire pressure from 8psi to 5 and see if that helps.

OK so now I know that while used sparingly the DNM shocks are factory and that they are damn stiff. I just dropped both shocks from the lower a-arm and the arms are moving freely and the length is 17 3/8 eye to eye which is the length that Cosmosdan gave me for a Z6 53", which is apparently what I have. I was told by the dealer when I bought it that it was an EX the difference being 14" wheels instead of 12" and that the track was wider than the Z6, I don't know if I ever saw another Z6 on his lot to look at for comparison, I know he didn't have another one when I bought it and shortly after I got it he had nothing but one or two Z8's on the lot. I guess now the only question is do I stay with the hard ride or buy new shocks.

Maybe you can find softer springs and not replace the whole strut assembly. I'm sure the shocks are fine it sounds like you have a really stiff spring on there.

Good idea, We don't have many SxS down here but we do have a lot of quads.

I have the extra set of shocks from a 2016 Z8 that I would sell.  I dont know that they are what your looking for but if you were talking about the front shock measurement in your post above then they are ~2" longer.  Let me know.

You can probably just get the diameter and length of the actual spring and match something up with a softer spring rate
