So i just bought my zforce rode it 3 days, half higher speed trails half Woods exploring.  So i climbed a large rock, just to see if i could, when i backed down, felt a bind and SNAP, so loud.  Thought i busted an axle or the diff. Visually looked, saw nothing, no leak axles were tight. So i headed back, i was only a few hundred feet away from home base, got it back noticed the tire was going flat. Heard the leak found the rim leaking.. turns out the top caliper bolt had backed itself out.  So when i was banking up it got jammed between the wheel and snapped the bottom bolt clean off. Cracked the rim and bent my brake shield.   I did check all the suspension and wheel bolts before driving bit did not think to check the caliper bolts..... was not too happy!

I think we need to start a thread on loose bolts... We already say check them all but the caliper bolts are not something one would think about..but then again cotter pins on ball joints and tie rod ends missing also wouldn't be on the top of the list either...but they have been found to be missing too.

Just when you think you've covered all the bases and torqued down every bolt that we usually recommend, another thread crops up with a new issue to look into before heading out for a ride. Do you guys have any Loc-tite applied to these bolts, or are they just torqued down ? 

Did a ride yesterday in the Wildcat - rode with a group of 4 including a Uforce 800. He had a Z600 at first, but found it too small and not enough suspension for his liking. He was on his second thermoswitch - I'm firmly convinced that every CF Moto will have this part fail eventually within the warranty period - but he was otherwise very happy with it. I was the only guy in a 50", and we spent a lot of time waiting for the Uforce and a Teryx to ease their way through the tight trails we were on. I am glad I went for a 50" every time we ride and they are banging their roll cage into the limbs as we go.   

I did find the bolt that sheared off it did have blue loctite on it.  I did not find the bolt that backed itself out so i don't know if it didn't get the loctite or something.  I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow and have a chat. This should a warranty concern.  You can't expect someone to take apart a brand new quad to tighten every bolt it has to put it all back together.

called the dealer this AM. They seemed surprised and sympathetic. asked me to bring it down ASAP and they would fit me in between scheduled service to get parts ordered and said they should have no problem getting it covered by warranty.  We shall see, I'll keep the story updated.  Higgins Powersports Barre MA

Good luck with the fix. Red. Sounds like you have a dealer interested in keeping a customer happy, and that's always nice to hear these days.

They checked it out today and ordered a new wheel and caliper bolts under warranty. Said the slight noise from the motor sounds normal. Not sure if I am convinced of that I told him I'll have to listen to another new machine. So far so good.

wheel was supposedly ordered last Thursday, called today for an update and he can't give me a real ETA says they hope to get it this week. He said it was in the warehouse. I read in a few places if parts are in this warehouse they arrive within 2 days. This guy says its usually a week. I get parts faster on amazon.

I thought they were in MN, so a week sounds reasonable to get them to you. To be fair, you can't compare anyone to amazon. There logistics are down right impressive. It's good they are covering the repairs. Still think cfmoto needs to invest in torque wrenches.

Yeah...North American-made torque wrenches...not what you get at Harbor Freight...and/or China.. Should also have a class on how to use them.

So here is the update, they covered the wheel and bolts under warranty. The wheel came from China so it took 2 weeks to get here. The noise from the clutch was deemed normal "they all do it". Engine slight noise also deemed normal "they all do it". Picking it up tonight. Will do oil change to diffs and engine oil replace air filter install the lift and soften the springs and rip it this weekend

Hey Red, yes all the ones I've heard make that noise as well, sorta sounds like a knocking noise, what I've found out it's the wet clutch engaging and releasing doing it.
