« on: July 23, 2016, 11:14:00 PM »
I was curious what everyone uses for a cooler I use an old Igloo it fits fine but does not keep ice very long I would like one that kept ice and cold drinks for 3 days.

I use the Coleman extreme coolers. They keep ice for 3 days no problem. Keep it out of the sun ect. They aren't that expensive either.

The obvious choice is Yeti if cost is not an issue. But I have a hard time justifying 300 plus for a cooler.  I want one with latches, tie down spots and I want to be able to go on a 3 day ride without having to find ice.

That's a tall order for sub 300. You should be able to add latches and tie downs to any cooler. I buy the marine ones because they use stainless hinges and hardware. Sucks they are white but they last way longer.

Here is a 5 day and it's black

If your going to blow a lot on a cooler, http://www.outdoorgearlab.com/Cooler-Reviews/Pelican-ProGear-Elite-65qt
Rated better than the Yeti. Also more comfortable to carry.

Look at RTIC.  I have 2 Yetis and bought 2 ARTICs.  Cant tell the difference.  My son has a RTIC that  sits in the back of his truck and gets banged around and abused, with no problems.  Holds ice as good or better than the YETI and it's 1/2 the price.  ( No, I dont work for them!)

Ozark Trail made an exclusive run for Wal Mart. I snagged me up a 27 quart version.  Its basically a rebranded Yeti for 30% of the cost. If you find the Ozark Trail coolers at Wal Mart, buy one when you see it. once they gone they gone.

I cant see paying the prices some people pay for cooler (talking mostly about Yeti stuff). Guess i can see the need for a VERY small group of people that are actually away from all electricity and can not get more ice.  But there are LOTS of people that just buy them to have them and they use them for the day to keep their beer cold and thats it.  I dont know about you but I can buy a WHOLE LOT of ice for $400
I can imagine a world completely at peace.  A world where there are no weapons, no war, and no violence at all.  And I can imagine us taking over that world because they would never expect it.

Yea, I only got one because when I go to MX races or outings where the drinks and food are so rediculously overpriced I bring my own and just make trips to the car for stock up. Its nice not having my lunch meat floating in water when I come back to the car for a snack.

I have the igloo sportsman  20.
It's been great, has tie down s, latches shut, and rubber feet on bottum, does not move when strapped in the back of my z800, and holds ice well.
$99 at sams club.
They also have bigger ones.

I typically go on 3 day rides if there is someplace near the trail head that sells ice it is ridiculously expensive or a half hour drive away. I am mostly looking for the convenience of packing my cooler once for the 3 days and being done with it. I don't go off grid or at-least i never have. I am not going to spend $300 or more for that convenience. But i would go as high as $150
