Exhaust rattle on SXS
« on: September 19, 2017, 06:37:08 PM »
Does anybody else have  an irritating exhaust rattle at low speed on their side by side? On my uforce 500, I've narrowed it down to the hangers. They come with metal sleeves in the rubber that the hooks from the pipe go through, resulting in metal rubbing on metal. I experimented with putting a few wraps of electrical tape around the hook part of the hanger to isolate the to metal surfaces from each other It did work but only lasted about 30 minutes before it gradually came back as the tape wore away. There is not alot of clearance between the two pieces of metal so it will only handle a few wraps.

Has anybody had this problem and come up with a remedy for it? I am going to try a couple layers of heat shrink and see if it stays on.

Yes sir! My 2015 600 has the same exact noise but I just ride it anyway. I have got used to it by now and I am really impressed with this little machine. It has very limited high end power however. They are well built machines and I have been working on these my whole life. The rattles and noises are expected. They usually get a little better with age and as things start to break in a wear.

There is a known rattle caused by the heat shield over the exhaust pipe under the bed.  some have been able to just bend it and it fixes it.  Some have ran a screw in it to fix it.  Easy to do though.
I can imagine a world completely at peace.  A world where there are no weapons, no war, and no violence at all.  And I can imagine us taking over that world because they would never expect it.
