ECU Tune
« on: November 01, 2023, 03:51:08 PM »
Has anyone had their ECU tuned by Main Street Cycle? I have a CForce 600T that I am trying to make run a little smoother and better and am looking for feedback. It supposedly optimizes the A/F ratio to make the machine run more rich and removes that "flat spot" between 2/3 and full throttle. Also makes the machine run cooler, less backfire, etc. Thoughts?

I hear-tell it's worth it...more-so on the 600.

MEH.
I've got an 800xc.
I did the basic tune from that company and wasnt . . yeah.
Id guess if you want to mud and stay within a few feet of your trailer, eat a hotdog, go mud a little more and come back and drink a beer it would be great.

So . . power wise . . somewhat. RPM drop that was great.
RPM limit moved up yeah . . except the bike wouldnt go anywhere near fast enough to hit it.

I clocked mine before at 72 mph.
I averaged 18 - 20, varying on how hard I rode, 4x4 engaged etc and so forth.

I installed the "make it run better" basic tune on a second STOCK ECU so I could have almost immediatte comparisons as well as keep the factory mapping unmolested for warranty security on the original ECU.

I do however LIKE their (MSCs) inlet elbow. That piece is effective and helps the bike breath noticeably better. I could hear and feel the difference immediately

I went with RJWCs cat delete and that was a major improvement as well.

Anyway. after installing the ECU with the tune I could barely pull 63 mph.
Mind I tested this ECU before I installed the tune and got nearly identical results with it as with the original one in terms of mileage and speed.

I also LOST mileage. LOST HUGE.
Thirteen mpg post tune was the best I could get.

My riding is usually long mileage stuff . . . 80 to 100 miles is pretty typical for me.

The power gain on the 800 was . . well . . yeah a bit snappier but not all that.

I actually had better results putting in a clutch upgrade and a different helix.

With the helix change and a different secondary spring my power to the ground results are better than the MS tune and I only loose a couple mpg.
Im running 18 gram weights and a slightly lighter main spring which helps with the clutching and 'take up' on hills.

I dont have a huge range of experience with getting ECM/ECU tunes done on anything but I can track results pretty well.

It would depend on what your actual goal is on what its value is.

Mine is "best all around for sustained long rides in variable conditions" rather than sprinting through mudholes and pond paddling for short stretches.

I havent gotten around to trying say Monster tune or anyone else yet but I would suggest being AWARE of what your end result goals are.

I would like to find a local experienced DYNO/tune shop and see what could be done with a local hands on guy though . .
