Destroyed front diff
« on: September 30, 2017, 04:39:14 PM »
Was out this morning ridding and tryed to climb out a dried up mud hole and got high centered so I backed down hit it with half throttle and put it in 4x4 and the front went up over the top and came down and hard and the worst sound came from the front I was able to limp it bad to the main trail and a buddy pulled me to the trailer.  Pulled it apart when I got home and found the spider gear lost a few teeth and they caused havoc on the rest of the diff.

If anyone knows where to locate a used diff or has one I would appreciate it. Dealer wants a pretty penny for a new one. Theres gotta be a used one out there some where

Yeah I have seen rzrs do it alot. I new better all the momentum with the wheels spinning and then stop at once bound to break something. Just wish it wasn't the 700 dollar part.

When looking for used, I get the part number and try to find all the models it was used in. The z8 has been around for a bit so there should be parts out there.

Yeah it's a love hate lol love to drive the sh!t out of it but hate to pay when she breaks.
I will say the design of it is nice seams to be a great set up it has one gear and shift fork for the 4x4 and lock. And the internals seam like good parts big big ball bearings and shim pack on the pinion gear.

In these situations it would be nice for the cv shafts to break instead of the diff.
