I didnt see exactly when the dash started doing this.

But it did occur today.

The indicator bar for the temperature no longer changes as the temperature changes on the bike.

The FAN is Working and cycling on and off and the bike doesnt seem to be over heating either.

The indicator bar just isn't changing.

When I turn the key on and the dash does its boot cycle, the bar does flash all the way across normally.

What am I looking for sending unit/connection or is it probably the dash itself?

As I recall these sending unit have two sections, one for the dash and one for the ECU data. Part of it..at least..is working if the ECU is turning on and off the fan...wait..this is an 800XC.right? If so they still are using the thermoswitch on the radiator to run the fan. I really wish everyone would put their machine in their signature line so we know what we are talking about.

Yeah I would replace the sensor first before spending 200 bucks on a new dash...of course that's after checking all the connections.

Yes, when I get a moment I was going to check the connections and the sensor first and start there.

The bar actually CYCLES with the rest of the dash when you first turn the key on, just appears to be not getting the signal to the idiot gauge.

I can hear the fan cycling on and off and it appears to be "normal" per se.
It doesnt come on until the bike is actually warmed up and the   . .  pattern of its cycle sounds the same as lasts for the usual duration

Yeah the fan is controlled by that thermoswitch so it's on and off won't change. And if there is no MIL or EFI light on in the dash, the ecu data side is working fine. The other part is for the dash gauge. Its either it..a connection between the sensor and the dash...or the dash itself...IMO.

All right cool.
that echoes what my though process concluded too.

Just checked my coolant and tank and it's perfect.
hasnt changed level at all and is very clean (new) looking

that and the fact that the bars in the temp indicator zone light
up on start up suggest the dash portion is working properly too.

And . . . it was the connector itself.
so $0.00 cent fix.
