Could it be fuel gelling?
Ive always run ethanol free in my bikes but my truck and car I usually run 89 at 10% were ridiculously hard to start last year during our low temps.
I switched to ethanol free for the rest of winter and greatly reduced my starting issues on them.
Neither of my 800xcs had issues starting during our 20 below snaps.
I DO keep them out of the weather, but not in a heated environment.
I didn't have to keep them on trickle chargers either.
