CFMoto ECU Fuel Injection Troubleshooting and Data Logging
« on: January 30, 2018, 09:33:47 PM »
I was browsing through the CFMoto service bible the other night and came across something as interesting as a 3 dollar bill.  I always wondered about the PDA that is used to troubleshoot the fuel injection.  It seems that device is basically unobtainable and very expensive.  That got me reading about fuel injection ECU's in general.  One thing leads to another and I end up reading a troubleshooting manual for a John Deere fuel injected engine.  I then realized that the pin outs are exactly the same.  Upon further reading it occurred to me that the 800EX uses a Delphi MT05 ECU which in quite common in the small engine market.  Many manufacturers such as Polaris, Can Am, and John Deere use this same ECU.  I haven't looked at mine but, I am almost certain its the same one.  It supports real time data logging.  Being that is so common I wonder if there is a universal scanning tool for this ECU.  Just some food for thought.  Discuss.

That's some good detective work, sir. I can see this leading to modifying the map parameters.

That is interesting! I was considering getting the $400 or so cfmoto one so I could trouble shoot easier. Using one to remap the ECU could open up the aftermarket world for these machines!
