Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum thanks for having me. I have a 2018 CForce 400 and the plastic skid plate that came with my bike tore off at the front. I decided to get a new metal set from CFMOTO and had dealer install. First ride out the front plate tore clean off. Left bits of metal under the bolts in the front. Wasn't even riding hard but did scrape a rock. Dealer says that plate can't be replaced and a whole new belly set has to be purchased @ ~$400.00. NOT GOOD.

Has anyone else had this problem and more importantly anyone know if I can just buy the front panel anywhere? Thanks

How the F**k did the skidplate breake ? Those things are normallly almoust indestructeble. I think your dealer should give you a new one because those things are made and ment to hitt things and take realy much abuse.

I agree! I can't help but think it was installed incorrectly. Yes I did come down on a rock but come on ... I know what going hard is and that's not what happened. Worst part is you have to buy the whole set, you can't just by the front piece.

Anyone know if I can get just the front skid plate anywhere?

Thanks for the reply. Tear-off? Not familiar with that term?

No, I didn't read carefully enough. Mine's a Z force.

Got a chance to get under the bike and have a better look. Turns out the front skid plate is still there! After it snapped off its mounts it bent completely backwards on it's self! Still need to be replaced or repaired. Not impressed cfmoto.

Bad news, CFMOTO won't replace my week old aluminum skid plate. One week I had it and it tore off in the first 30 minutes of my first time out with it. Not cool. The plastic one broke as well but I opted to upgrade to the CFMOTO metal one instead expecting it to last. NOPE. Shame on you CFMOTO.

Just curious, are  you driving directly over big rocks or logs?I've not even hardley scraped my plastic skids on my 500 trail, and i've ridden over some pretty gnarly stuff.

Yeah although I have some steel armor out on the sides, the center is still the OE plastic...and other then taking a small corner off it's hung in there pretty well considering all the trees and rocks I've slid-over. I'm probably not as aggressive as others though..:)

That is fair to ask. I wasn't riding a flat dirt trail when it happened. There were rocks but not boulders. I came down at slow speed on a rock (skull size). I believe the full downward force was transferred to the two tabs that were bolted to the frame snapping them off. I wouldn't expect it to break, I would however expect CFMOTO to be more helpful. Even 30 days on the skid plate would have been good, but nothing.

Aluminum?  Tabs aren't a good idea on such soft metal.

If you can't get a replacement ...

Consider using the one you have to make a template. Iron shops will usually have the equipment to make quick work of sheet steel and it shouldn't be too costly.

Great suggestion. I'm going to make one as a winter project. Maybe bring it right up to the bush guard in the front. I have the extra front bumper / bush bar on mine and the winch rollers are set back behind it. It's not a good design because when you have to winch off centre it cuts or rubs into the bush bar. Maybe I can move the fairlead onto the new skid plate if I extend it up? Might as well do it up, right?
