Can they interchange ?
« on: March 16, 2023, 06:40:55 PM »
I have a 2018 z force trail 800 that i have looked all over the web about rims that will interchange with it.So far i've found the Kawi brute force.
I haven't seen anything about the cforce or the uforce rims being able to interchange with the z force?
I'm wanting to go square on the zforce and like most i'm trying to save a few $.
I do know that i want to go with 27s as far as tires go.What is the widest i should go and not have any problems.
Thanks

Any lug centric with 4/110 pattern and 10mm studs will fit the hub of any CFM from 800 and smaller. Going square you will want no more then 10"s wide and 27s are a good choice. You should stick with the 14" wheel and use either an 7 or 8" wide wheel with one of these offsets on all: 5+2, 5+3, 4+3 or you can use 4+4 but you will be over the 50" limit with anything that has the second number larger then 2 and some bad mud-slinging. I suggest 5+2s all the way around with a nice set of 27x10x14s. You can go with 27x9x14s if you wish. Add one extra psi to the rear because of the engine weight...so 8 in front and 9 in the rear.

You can look for wheels at many sites like ITP, Douglas,Raceline and many more or look for tire & wheel packages on ebay. Get a good 6 or 8ply radial tire and stay with a name brand like GBC,ITP...ect.

I have not bought any yet but was just looking at wheels 2 nights ago on Ebay and saw RokTrix (sp?) to be the best deal out there it seems. Maybe it is a new brand. seems the new wheel or tire brands start out cheaper until they get some recognition. might be worth a look. IIRC it was 4 14x7 (4/110) for $350'ish with free shipping.

That's almost too cheap. I'd be careful. Many years ago I put several wheel and tire packages on my Brute and all were between 800 and 1000. I would expect that to be even more today. Know what you are getting.

So i buy rims that are 8x14 and a 9'' or 10'' tire will work?
I've looked at all the selection of both rims and tires,It's like  just to many choices. But i guess veriety is good.

Yeah it's tough these days with all the choices out there. I would get your wheels picked out first, then decide on the type of tire for my type of riding, then pick three even if they were different makes and start reading the reviews, then pick one.

You seem to know a great deal about this CFmoto stuff and i'm greatfull for your answers and every one elses.
Is thier any reason i can't buy a set of used front (2) rims off a cfmoto zforce trail
800 and use them?

Just can't put the same width tire of different width wheels and expect exactly the same diameter..which you must have with a 4wd...especially on pavement or hard pack where they can't slip to make up for the rotational difference. Does it mean people don't ever do it...sure they do. Just don't be in 4wd on hard pack or pavement unless you want a broken diff case. Z Trail- Put 27x10s on it. That way later if you need to you can put a set of wheels with them.

You are just a world of information and i'm super greatfull that your here and so willing to be of help.
If i'm understanding you correct ,I cant put 27x10s on all four of the factory rims without having problems?
If i have the same size rims all the way around like the 9s that are factory and on front ,i wont have any problems.
I just want to do it right and not tear up my machine.
If need be YES i can buy new rims ,,,,,,,but prefer not to ,,,,,only if i have to.

Well it is impossible to put the same width tires on different width wheels and have the exact same diameter. Because the rears are stretched out farther across that 8" wheel, they will be slightly smaller then the fronts that are not stretched as far because of the 6 or 7" wheel they are. You can minimize it by going one up in front and one down in back which makes it 10s all the way around. Still, the fronts and backs are running at slightly different RPMs so you may cause damage to the drive train from the strain if you lock all together in 4wd and run on pavement or very hard pack. If you really want it right, you will buy all the same wheels...with the same offset and width. I recommend a 14x7 with 5+2 offset. If you want a little more stance (width) then go to a 4+3. I still recommend a 10" wide tire and on the trails you are always safe with a 27". And remember CFM uses the lugs to center the wheels on the hub so get ones with the tapered lugs..ie lug-centric and with a 4/110 pattern.

I guess i'm going to look around the internet and see if i can find 2 factory used front rims to replace the back ones with .By what i'm understanding ,this will get me square and i shouldnt have any problems.
How much more width if i went 4 + 3.

Depends on what the factory's are now. Most "were" around +1.6..under +2" so anything over that is how much more it sticks out. The first number is how much it stick in from the mounting surface. You can get the wheel width and the inset amount in millimeters off the back. Go to any number of offset converters on the web and convert that to inches we use. Then take the wheel width minus that converted number and that will give you the outset.

Lets take one of my rears for example. As you see it is a 14x8" wheel with a + 46.5 inset.

That inset or back space converts to 6.33".

Now if I take the width of the wheel and remove that 6.33 from it I get an outset of 1.67".  Easy. Remember that increase is times-2...cause there are.. two wheels...lol

Got to looking on the internet again and the factory rims are 7s front,8s rear.
I'm not going to need to buy rims after all
But i am going with 27x10x14 all theway around.
I looked real good and the only thing that could get in the way would be brake lines.Thats a easy fix
